I dont know much about it, but my dad has had a few for his company fleet. Has 2 2500HDs right now, I just know when I drive it my Titan seems alot stronger and faster. The pedal is a lot firmer and responsive in the Titan, the Chevy is very mushy and doesnt feel as powerful

Think that's bad, did you know some high powered Duramax owners swap out the Allison transmission and put the 48RE in from the Dodges?

Re: First kill since having the pgm

Any of you all raced any diesels? The ones around here haul some serious ***. There is one guy driving around they call Mopar(might be his real name but idk) he has an 05 2500 Dodge and that thing is crazy. He has a twin turbo on it that pushes out more boost than a 60psi gauge can read lol. He put on a gauge that goes up to 120psi not long ago and according to it he is pumping out around 80psi regularly. This guy has dropped so much money into his engine and transmission its unreal lol needless to say...its fast.

That's what you've probably heard and what most Chevy guys say, but once they get into the real high horsepower and torque it's not nearly as good as the 48RE, especially in dragstrip use. From what I've read and understand the Allison is a clutch to clutch transmission and has to ramp up one clutch as it ramps another down. It can't shift 5 times in 10 seconds without destroying itself. That's what I heard from a guy that swaps the Allison's out and the 48RE's into the Duramax's and builds around 150 48RE's a year and has built a 48RE to handle a Dodge 5.9 Cummins with 1367rwhp and 2500rwtq, now that's 2500rwtq flatlined from 2300rpms to 4300rpms. The 48RE when properly built is one the the most absoluetly strongest transmissions known.

Back when my SRT-10 was stock, I raced my friends 06 Dodge Cummins QC with AFE or AEM intake (some huge azz intake), MBRP exhaust, and BullyDog Tripple Dog tuner set to extreeme mode that is +180HP. Gave him a truck and a half head start from a 25mph roll and let him start first. When I saw the black smoke I went WOT. Caught him pretty quick, just as I was passing him his truck shifted then it really started huffing a big plume of smoke, that's when he really started moving, luckily I was already pulling away from him. Ended up just crushing him, a few buslengths on him by 100mph. My truck how it sits now would crush how it was stock, night and day difference.

No, the trailblazer SS is an LS series 6.0. the other 6.0 you're talking about is a pile of crap by comparison.

Anyways, if the ss actually had a good transmission it would probably be a little faster.

But it's got a 4L70E 4-speed automatic. And it runs low 14's stock, so to the guy saying a stock titan with exhaust can take one, probably not...

Just hope he never mods it! Each mod is 20+ horsepower gain.

Intake, exhaust and a tune, and they go from 390 crank horsepower to 390 whp.

amazing, no?

Re: First kill since having the pgm

Could you imagine a trailblazer SS with the 6.2 and 6 speed auto from the new denali/silverado/escalade??!?! That would be one SICK monster! The TBSS is by far my favorite SUV and if I didn't need a truck and could afford a TBSS I would have one in a heartbeat.

Just the transmission imo. the motor is superior to the 6.2L

You can swap heads on it and such and there are TONS of aftermarket parts for LS series v8's

Yep the dodge trannys are also cheaper to build. You pay less money to build one and have a more reliable tranny. Allison is garbage once you add a programmer unless you keep it on a light tune.

Friend of mine has a '02 dmax, Allison trans was ok with just the bully dog programmer, but he put a propane kit on it (about an extra 100hp) and that hurt the trans, started going into limp mode in 4th gear at WOT. Now he has bought all the good stuff to make the allison trans handle the power he will be making (expensive). He also got rid of the bully dog programmer and got efi live. His current tune makes 500rwhp and 900rwtq. Before with just the bully dog programmer his dmax went 13.90 @ 100mph. Should be bringing it to the track soon to see what it will do with the new tune, Yank Torque Converter, and on some et streets.
