Tacoma Kill

A while back, it was late and this guy and his bud pull up next to me at a light and gave me a little signal in their off road V6 tacoma, it looked about a 2002 around there. I thought I might as well give them a challenge and show them what I got. I never raced at all and never tried WOT at a stand still, but I knew If I gave just the right throttle my tires would not spin as much and sure enough, I beat the guy the whole way. Nothing big, but just something to be proud of. I slowed down to meet the guy, and he claims he got beat because I have a V8, that may be the case, but what he really means was "I want your truck!"

Re: Tacoma Kill

Ha! He chose to race a v8, good kill. Those tacomas can be fast lil btiches though, I know a few guys who had some real quick ones. They are so tiny though, it's like a lil toy truck, my dad had one an the inside is not roomy at all. But that's my opinion, I love the roomy interior. If I ever decide to pick up another truck, it"ll be the dodge megacab, those things are monsters!

Re: Tacoma Kill

he thinks he lost because you have a V8? 2002 tacoma V6 was only a 3.4 rated at 190 hp. Thats why he lost lol. Hell a frontier would have blown his doors off.

I think the 3.4 with the TRD supercharger is still in the 15's. The 05 and up are the ones that can be pretty quick.

Good kill.

Re: Tacoma Kill

^^ gt-s wouldn't be so easy :P

You should see people with bolt-ons and a tune in those things. you slap bolt-ons and they go from like 15x whp to like 17x. Then with a tune it's like boom, 19x whp and they only weigh between 25 and 2600 lbs.

9.87 Nissan Titan Run - Car Videos on StreetFire

That's what a newer Tacoma is capable of with an intake, cheap custom exhaust, and 33' on 18s.

We both even knocked down our times by .3. We would run consistent runs every time for 1/8th. Now 1/4 mi runs were a little different.

Re: Tacoma Kill

What other outcome did he expect? That was child's play for a Titan. Sure a Tacoma can be fast, but stock for stock Tacomas don't hold a candle to the T. Duh

Negative. Should I remind you of the infamous Buick 3.8? Or the GM Cyclone 4.3? Or Nissan's own VQ30 and VQ35/37? Now I do like the way an I-6 sounds vs a V6 in general with a few exceptions but I think the 2JZ is one of the best sounding I-6 engines made.

Okay your right, to an extent. The Syclone motor is not very great IMO, the Syclone and Typhoon guys even complain about the upkeep problems with that motor.

Yes the VQ's are great motors, aswell as the notorious 3.8, but IMO the inline 6's are superior.

I was more talking about Toyota wise though, thier best engines are all inlines. Heck thier 1.8L 3tc has gone low 7's last time I ckecked. I really like the old Toyota engines like the 20R, 18RG, 3TC, etc. For the price of bolt-on's for a VQ engine you can make a friggin little monster out of the 20R or 3t that will flat out embarass a VQ equipped car.

Re: Tacoma Kill

What cars did those engines come in? Are they all 4cyl? I like the 2JZ but expensive for my blood, same as the RB25/26DETT engines. For 4cyl engines, I think Honda makes some of the best if not the best 4cyl engines around, not to knock Toyota, Nissan or Mitsubishi. One of my all time favorite cars I've owned was a 1992 Accord coupe 5spd H22A swap with Crower stg2 cams, header, full exhaust Hondata tuned and true CAI. Wasn't the fastest dude around but the little thing made 238whp and pulled all the way to 8800rpm. Screaming little sh*t.......lol. Handled really good for a larger coupe and was just an all around general fun car to drive. I had a real good sounding Magnaflow system installed on it. Very smooth and clean sounding 4cyl. The K series are the new H22's of today it seems. Very pricey too.......
