That's because the CVT's suck balls for racing. The 3.5 Altima guys with 6speeds usually have traction problems in 1st and going into 2nd, partly because of the tires, but the CVT's don't have it nearly as bad and are usually a few ticks slower in the 1/4mile on avg. Can't remmeber if the new Maximas come with an optional 6sp. Our Altima has a CVT and if your in manual mode cruising and mash it, theres a bog in power, it doesn't happen in regular drive. Some Maxima guys do a switch over from manual mode to drive or vice versa maybe 3/4 track and says it helps, never tested it though.

I wouldn't mind seeing that again with him having all your mods, instead of bone stock

I've driven a G35 quite a bit, and they are not slow.

Re: T vs 09 Maxima

Good kill on the Dakota, I had 2 5.9 R/T's and stock it would probably get beat by a stock Titan...Now on the new Maxima, it will def pull on top. I have beaten a few G35's and 350Z's at the track and on the street. The way your races turnd it out is how I would expect. Stock v6 Altima's can trap 100 MPH stock whereas my 13.8 run was high 96's lol, so there is no doubt that they pull way harder on top. I have only been beaten by one 350Z at the track and those are lighter cars (raced a few). I usually get a nice bit ahead off the line, then while I'm getting close to the finish, I can see them pulling up close to me, but they just can't do it in the 1/4, of course your 4x4 is heavier than me. Are the new Maxima's the 3.7's now? Anyway, nice run, top end is not our friend

I actually all out murdered one Maxima at the track. I ran a mid 14 and he ran a mid high 15, I couldn't believe it. He had a passenger, bt he really must have been doing something wrong in that car, I know they can run mid 14's with the 3.5, if they have the 3.7 now, probably low 14's

Re: T vs 09 Maxima

Can you say !

I know it's methanol, but still, it is insane. Stock VQ35 motor except the connecting rods. I wish our trucks would run like that even down low!

There's more to speed than HP.

Oh god. The torque argument.

Off idle torque is wonderful. It's great for getting off the line. After that point you want your torque to level off till near redline.

The reason your trucks drop off on top end because:

1.) gearing
2.) torque drops off constantly

I know all about torque, even if i don't have any :P

Re: T vs 09 Maxima

Check that 4th gear dyno pull on this beast.

Actually i have a video of a high horsepower one racing a Greddy TT 350Z

Different S2000:

What sucks is the 350z race is ghey. It was filmed from a chase car that couldn't chase, and the s2k was only on 8 psi.

Also this whole video he was running around 600 whp on pump gas. Not his race gas 700 whp

Well if he is going to have the same mods as me then we might as well have the same weight too dont you think...?

I never said the G35 are slow... Just posted a video of me racing one at fontana track...

Re: T vs 09 Maxima

The new Maximas have the same VQ35DE but it's modified a bit and they come only with CVT. I'd never buy one for that reason. CVT sux major a*s. You couldn't pay me to own a CVT equipped car. I had to use a Sentra over the weekend while my T was in the shop for a busted outer tie rod end. It was the biggest turd of a car I've ever driven!! My Cobalt would absolutely slaughter a CVT Sentra. No choosing gears or feeling the trans go from gear to gear. You smash the gas and it just goes to redline and changes the ratio sloooowly. No thanks for me.
