Problem seems to be in bottom end. Short block or Long Block seem to be a mileage thing. If you have really low mileage like less than 15000. Most likely will get long block. Probably also factor if they find material/ up top when they pull valve covers borescope etc.
I'm very much interested in knowing what steps (if anything) your service dept did after they fully installed your engine into your truck to the time that the keys were given to you.
I've just read a post by tckmtr74 found in the "the engine knock" thread. In it he describes how his service dept drove the truck for 100 miles (to check for codes, rattles, squeals, etc) and then completely changed the oil and coolant (to make sure there were no chips or metal floating around) and then hooked it up to the computer to run graphs and sent the results to Nissan for approval before they released the truck to him. He lives in the US
After reading this post, I'm definitely going to make sure my service manager follows the same steps. My short block has arrived - installation scheduled for May 27th

I took my wife to are local Toyota dealership ,she was interested in checking out new Rav4 and seen basically the same thing with the Tundra frames here lol . I agree they are all great when working correctly and all a piece of S**T when broke. To me it's how the Manufactuers handle the issue. Nissan Canada gets failing grade in my books , thankfully my local Nissan dealership is awesome and does everything it can to try and keep ther customers happy
So, I'm hearing this issue affects the Gen2 Armada also.
Has Nissan released any info about the root cause and what the solution is? Are the replacement engines any different than the failing engines?
I can't find any info on Armada forums about this (but the Armada forums are pretty dead)
Also, this should affect the QX80? Which has been out a few years before Gen2 Titans and Armadas, did the earliest QX80s suffer these engine failures?
The Armada is my aspirational replacement for my Gen1 Titan, but I gotta be sure this cylinder 7 issue is solved
