One question that I forgot to ask you before - Is your engine performing any different now that the knocking issue has been fixed ???

My #1 question was - "When I am getting my engine" and his answer was (this is what surprised me) "I was waiting for you (me) to tell him to go ahead and order the engine".

The only thing throughout my ordeal that the service manager did was on March 14th he notified Nissan Tech that my truck's engine was knocking and that the issue was in the bottom end of the engine. There was no further communication between him and Nissan to this day.

So based on his assessment is why Nissan Canada is only sending me a short block.

So I have made two bad assumptions: 1) I assumed that the service manager had ordered a new engine on March 14th and 2) I assumed when Nissan Canada told me that they were sending me a short block engine on April 12th that it was on its way

So if I hadn't gone in today, I still wouldn't have had an engine ordered.

So I asked him to order me a long block and he said don't bother cause Nissan Canada would just cancel the order - so I ended up saying "Whatever just fix my truck" so I'm getting the short block.

So your "smoke" issue that you had on your holiday is probably the reason that you're getting a long block.

Sorry about being so long winded - but this whole process has been a joke.

Iím happy to hear that you are getting some solid answers now and on your way to having your truck fixed!

Odd that the service manager was waiting for an answer from you though. Something got lost in translation.

And you have a knock coming from the bottom? Like a failing con rod or main bearing? That is definitely a different issue than mine has.

That's the assessment that the service manager made - today he said that its cylinder# 7

I just hope that he's correct and the short block fixes everything

Re: New motor coming

I dropped the truck off this morning and they gave me an F-150 as a loaner for a week.

I will post updates as I receive them.

Re: New motor coming

I just bought a 2018 titan S back in march. I only have 1000 miles on it and twice I have heard what I though was bad manifold seals. After reading through and listening to videos I'm thinking I will be in the same boat soon. Had to go down this road with nissan before with my infinity g37x. That was a nightmare I was hoping on not repeating. Quality has gone out the window with all manufacturers. I'm just glad to see Nissan is stepping up to correct these problems without a fight. I guess I'm getting my oil changes at the dealer for now. Nissan tried to stick me with a 14k bill from my Infiniti engine because I do my own. I'm not giving them an excuse this go around.

Re: New motor coming

Picked up the truck today. No issues so far. Engine runs super smooth.
Inside of the truck smells like a garage though. I need that to air out soon.

Here's hoping that Nissan got the "fix" right.

Mine goes in on May 27th for short block engine replacement

Re: New motor coming

after my service bulletin updates, the ticking at the front of my engine disappeared but did notice the diesel sound from the side fenderwall, just finished having halfway motors check and it appears #7 piston is failing, new engine on 2 month back order, wait and see now!

Re: New motor coming

Does anyone know what happened to these engines causing these pistons to fail?

Re: New motor coming

I would like to know the answer to this too, as I still after all this hope to get a new Pro 4X but I'm waiting to see if this motor thing gets solved and to see what changes come for 2020? Is it just a missed QC thing where the employees' got complacent and or weren't trained well enough? Or is it second generation 5.6 design flaw??
