I thought it would be a good idea to show how to do things on this site. Some of the stuff is simple, but there are also some good tools to use. Please add to this if you want to help others.

I will start off by showing how to do Quotes.

To quote someone’s text click on the Quote icon in the bottom right corner of the text area

( I just used some text out a thread for reference ) Below is what a quoted text looks like in a thread

{QUOTE=Joe'sTitan}I just installed a magnaflow muffler and after a light step on the throttle I like it. It will take just a bit more to get use to the rumble. It is not bad at all and the truck sounds great. I will install the intake after "fram" decides to send it!! I also put in a muffler tip not for performance but more for looks. No piping just muffler, tip and installation for $160. It appears that I am getting a little more ump during accelaration.{/QUOTE}

This is what a quote will look like when you click on the icon. You can begin to respond below quoted area.

To add a second quote in the thread, scroll down the page and copy ( Ctrl C or right click the mouse and select Copy )the posters text. If it is not on the page then open a new window and copy the text. Then paste ( Ctrl V or right click and select paste ) below your response to the 1st quote. It will show up looking like # 1 below ( minus the quote parts )

Next, highlight all the text then click on this icon
it is located on the toolbar section above the text box. It will look like # 1 ( with the quote parts )

EDIT: Use [ ] instead of the { } used, it would mess up the instructions if I left it normal.

Now delete “ ] “ symbol after the E in the first
, replace with a “ = “ so it will look like
m95roadster. Then add the “ said:
“ after the name. It will look like this
m95roadster said:
You will now be able to respond to the second quoted post.

{QUOTE}m95roadster Here is my 2 cents. Anything changed after the cats will not degrade hp/torque. You want the highest flowing system (after the cats) as possible. Now changing pipe sizes (bigger) at the manifold tend to shift the torque curve higher.
{/QUOTE}

You may choose to use option #1 if you wish, or do option #2 to make it show the "Originally Posted by" by it.

Uploading Images

No 15 post requirement

When replying to a topic scroll down a little and click on Manage Attachments. From there a window will pop up stating what files are valid for uploading. Click on the Browse button to locate the file on your computer. After you selected the file it will apear in the box under Upload File from your Computer

Your image is now uploaded. You may type what you want in the text field and then hit reply.

Inserting Images

There is a excelent thread for this, it can be read here http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-pictures-media-post/14181-uploading-dummies.html It is 20 pages long but does have good instructions in it.
You may also use another site like http://www.photobucket.com or http://www.cardomain.com. They are pretty self explanatory on how to use there site. If you do decide to use a different site for your images, type your text then click on this icon
and paste the URL of were the image is. For photobucket they list 3 different area's were you can copy. I use the URL link. Don't forget about the image size rules for the site. Any questions about sizes, you can ask a mod.

To insert a linked image(s) from photobucket, or another site. My instructions are from photobucket but if you have another site look below for how it should look. select all images by checking the the box by the image. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on " Generate HTML and IMG code " This will take you to a page with a bunch of selections. Copy the text in the box called "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended" You may now paste in the text box. It will look like this

{URL=http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b285/socalititan/TitanDay/DSCN0461.jpg}{IMG}http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b285/socalititan/TitanDay/th_DSCN0461.jpg{/IMG}{/URL}

Remember to replace { } with [ ]

Example of Clickable image link

Inserting a Link

When starting a thread or responding to one that you want to include a link for, click on this icon
A window will pop up asking for address, it will Start with http:// highlighted, you can either paste your link or add the address. Make sure you start after the " // ".

Images in Signatures

This is like adding a picture, except the size rules are alot smaller. There is a thread here http://www.titantalk.com/forums/nissan-titan-news/25752-signature-image-rules.html that shows the rules and has a link to a how to. Again, you may also use another site for the image but it must meet the size limits.

Bold, Italics and Underlined Text & Colored Text

In the tool bar there is the
icons, if you want to add one of these you can type your text then highlight and click on what one you want, or click on the icon and start typing were the blinking bar is.

Searching

When you want to do a search I highley recommend using the Advanced Search funtion. When you click on the Search tab a window drops, click on Advanced. A new page opens with lots of options. To break down to what your looking for click on the boolean button. This located on the last area under Search Type. I was messing around with it tonight and found this is the best way to find the info you need and not have to search through 100's of threads. You can also break down by Fourm, User, and if it was a post or thread.

For an example. I am planning on doing a Sirius Install on my overhead console. If you did this by a regular search there are 216 threads that show up, if you use the boolean only 6 show up and I found what I was looking for. I used keywords Sirius Install Overhead and checked the boolean button. Saved me alot of time.

Warranty Questions

If you wonder if a mod you do to your truck will void a warranty please look at the Magnuson-Moss act. I have included a link below that explains everything you need to know about voiding a Warrany.

TitanTalk Glossary

Wonder what something means? Sammy Sandbag (moderator) took the time to make this thread. It explains what acronyms, abbreviations, or slang often used here at Titan Talk. If there is something missing reply to that thread.

This is a symbol for Premium Membership. Info for that can be found here. http://www.titantalk.com/forums/nissan-titan-news/23490-titan-status-premium-user-program-completed.html

Your own "texted" Link

To type in your own text to a link instead of displaying the web address you can do the following. A example would be the two in my signature.

When replying/making a thread or for your signature copy the link you want to add. Click on the "link icon" ( see above ) paste it then hit ok. After that is done it will look like this...

[U R L="http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/38461-tips-titantalk-com.html"]http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/38461-tips-titantalk-com.html *take spaces out of U R L to make it look like URL=.......*

Now that you have this [U R L="http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/38461-tips-titantalk-com.html"]http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/38461-tips-titantalk-com.html remove the second linked text and type in what you want to type. Make sure you keep the

[U RL="http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/38461-tips-titantalk-com.html"]Click here for Tips for TitanTalk

*remember to remove spaces between URL* a finished link should look like the two in my signature

This is it for now. Please add other things you have or may know of. Thanks to the mods for the links provided, knowledge and guidance.

Great idea. I've been wanting to post some pics, but have had no luck. I'm sure some of your links might help. Taking some motorcycles and Titan to MOAB friday and hope to post a few pics from that next week.
Jim
Thanks, that's the reason why I did this was to help.

Boolean logic symbolically represents relationships between entities. There are three Boolean operators:

AND Use the AND operator to retrieve a set in which each citation contains all the search terms. This operator places no condition on where the terms are found in relation to one another; the terms simply have to appear somewhere in the same citation.

OR Use the OR operator to retrieve documents that contain at least one of the specified search terms.

Use OR when you want to pull together articles on similar subjects.

NOT Use the NOT operator to exclude the retrieval of terms from your search.

HELP HELP!!

ok, you can copy the url click on this icon
. A window will pop up then paste. Or you can just copy the last field from photobucket and paste in the text area which will be IMG......IMG

If you want to add a thumbnail link, select the image you want on PB, go to down to the bottom of the page click generate HTML IMG code. Then a new page will pop up. Highlight the second recommended one.
