157k Mile Cabin Filter

I bought my first Titan last Saturday, 09 LE with 157k miles. I decided to check the cabin filters, although I assumed the dealership changed them. I'm guessing by the french fries and sunflower seeds that no one ever knew they were there. ?

Re: 157k Mile Cabin Filter

It's actually closer to an air freshener trying to cover up Armor-All and maybe a little bit of pipe tobacco.
At the dealer I just mistook it for Armor-All.
I bought one of these, hopefully it works as advertised -> https://www.biocidesystems.com/auto-...-quick-release

Already looks like you've had some visitors. Take a good look at your wiring.

Re: 157k Mile Cabin Filter

Dealerships suck, when we bought our Truck used, 2015 SV 4x4 with 10k miles on it, I figured I would check everything out. My Air Filter for the engine looked terrible like the Truck was following a tar truck for 10k miles, it was completely black. Then the Cabin Filter??? THERE WASNT ONE. Just an empty slot. Unbelievable. Oil was dirty too.

This being a Certified Used Nissan? Crazy.

Good to see these trucks with high mileage keep going. My Sisters 05 has about 160k and a rough life and its still going. Lots of Problems with her Lift kit over the years. Caused the Rear axle to fail, drive shaft failure, just stuff that would not have happened if she didn't put a lift kit on it.

All and all though, its still trucking on 13 yrs later and 160k miles.

Just replaced mine yesterday, actually added them as there were none in there which is very common. 80k miles without them, wonder how different it will be having them inthere.

Fishn, I know the SV model I have didn't come with cabin filters either. I think its ridiculous that a moderate trim level doesn't have cabin filters included, only the higher end models. I added some too. 25K on the filters and they show the goo that accumulates in the system.

Just changed mine, and the filter was actually in there (S Model) which surprised me. It was a bit dirty with some small leaves too (17k miles) so worth changing. I put new ones in from autozone but I'll see if I can clean this original back to new with some water/Lysol.

The new cover for the filter no longer has the 8mm bolt holding it on, now just cheap tabs that have a tendency to break off

Re: 157k Mile Cabin Filter

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I've been having issues with my cabin filters. I park my truck in my garage for the winter and it is basically in storage, it sat from December to April this last winter. The kicker is that my garage was a barn, and I am slowly getting it renovated as funds allow. This includes insulating the walls, one wall at a time. Seems there is still a mice issue though. Replaced cabin filters yesterday and the mice had a huge nest in there, with tons of the the wall insulation. They had clearly p1$$ed and sh1t everywhere, it was nasty. This was the second time dealing with this.

My question is where exactly is the intake/opening for the cabin air? Could I maybe plug it for the winter and prevent this?

There is a large hay field right beside, so eliminating the mice is probably never going to happen.

I had a problem with this in my Frontier. The inlet for the HVAC is a huge opening right under the windshield cowl. You have to remove the wipers and try to carefully not damage the little plastic tabs that hold the seal and cowling down under the hood. I'm not sure where the radio antenna is on the 1st Gen Titan but I had to take it off the Frontier too.

I dremelled a piece of wire mesh stock and RTV'ed it over the inlet, no more mouse nest. Also a couple 99cent spring traps under the hood helps get the ones there.

I prefer not using remote start or drive-thrus, both hurt your MPG's a lot & you shouldn't let your vehicle idle more that a minute or so especially unattended.
