Replacing head unit in 2017 titan with nav and Rockford fosgate

Crutchfield says that you can add some wiring adapters and have steering wheel controls on trucks that don’t have Rockford fosgate systems but those adapters don’t work with trucks that have Rockford fosgate. Can someone tell me why that is? Wouldn’t the Rockford fosgate system just add an amp and different speakers? Are the steering wheel controls routed differently on trucks with Rockford fosgate?

This thread should help a little. I want to do the same thing but the rep told me no as well. With that said, I wonder what the difference is too.

It is awesome to hear from you again. I called you and left you a voicemail this morning, and guess what? We just added the harness as compatible with the newer Titans.
These are the models we found compatible:
* 2016-2017 Nissan Titan XD with navigation
* 2016-2017 Nissan Titan XD with Rockford Fosgate
* 2017 Nissan Titan with navigation
* 2017 Nissan Titan with Rockford Fosgate
* 2018 Nissan Titan XD with navigation
* 2018 Nissan Titan XD with Rockford Fosgate
* 2018 Nissan Titan with navigation
