Question here: What is the point of running bike tires on a truck. I'm seeing crown vic's with bigger tires (rim wise) than some people have on TT. I guess it's just a fad? I know there is no advantage off road or on road for a titan. I see were low profile tires on sport cars make a differnce in handling, but off road you need the tall sidewalls. Anybody? Not cutting anyones ride down, I just don't get the gangster look on the 4 x 4's.
In Florida there are no rocks and there's never a need to air down, so why not be different and have a better looking truck while still having the ability to offroad? I know my 22s see more offroad than half the D Bags that always want to bash big rims and claim they got 17s or 18s so they could offroad yet they never do. Not everyone can afford big rims with MTs, so if you can and like the look why not get them to be different? It's not like you air down in mud or anything, and the sand here isn't really that soft, so with nice tires you can go anywhere on the trails without airing down. Not to mention, it offers better on road handling. Now yes if you're going to be jumping your truck, or you live in sand dunes it would be pointless. But for all of us that live in areas where we don't do that, there's no problem with big rims. And it's far from Gangster.....Gangster's ride flat's:cheers:

Yeah, the ganster look just dosn't go with the 4x4. But it's what ever you like.

I'm an Old School Guy, back in the day I've wheeled my trucks on small wheels and big tires no problems. Now I wheel my truck on big wheels and smaller tires (20's on 35's) no problems!

I wheel with my buddies they're all on big wheels and smaller tires no problems. For the people who only like small wheels, How many times have you seen the trucks with big wheels fail off road?

Sorry! not hatin' on anybody, everybody's entitled to their likes and dislikes. I just don't appreciate when people are convinced it's their way or the highway.

Exactly, my dad's had lifted trucks since he was younger. Back then you were ballin if you stepped it up to the 16s or later the 16.5s when they came out. Half of the people on here that talk trash learned their stuff from reading these forums, and they think they know everything when this is the only lifted truck they've ever owned. It's so funny, this is by far the biggest group of inexperienced wheelers I've ever seen. 95% of the people running their mouths can't even put their own lifts on, they pay someone to do it.To those that know their stuff from experience, to you I tip my hat, to the rest of you, you give me something to laugh at every day! Now I'm not bashing everyone that paid to have their stuff put on, just those that paid then try to tell everyone else all the stuff they don't know about trucks.

all you have is 31in tires? those look at least 33's
It's inda a rough eatimate. We had some 35's in the garage and I set those next to the titan. They were about 4" shorter. 35-4=31:sunshine: And here's a better pic.

Back in the day, 16's and when Ford came out with the 17" wheel on their OR package(1997) those were big wheels. They were basically not many tire upgrades to go with 16.5 as those were mostly on 1 Ton and 3/4 ton trucks, so there where not many tire packages for those. That's when lifted trucks had some rubber like that Ford in your avatar. I use my truck for hunting and hunting only it's just what you prefer. I will be putting my lift on this weekend( not my first by far), myself by the way. As for the comment on people installing there lifts. We have now become a society of out sourcing everything, from oil changes to having our grass cut, not to mention having your car washed. I personnaly do all that stuff myself. I wouldn't knock those guys, it's just the way we as americans have become. Also many people work tons of hours and simply do not have time to do ther own install, but they have the cash to make it happen.

Huh? Not many tires for 16.5" rims?!?! That's one of the most common tire sizes made for a long time. In the 90s I would bet everything I own that any offroad tire available was made in a 16.5. :bangit:

And it is your truck so it's up to you what you do to it. But don't sit here and bash us by calling our rides gangster then turn around and act like you weren't doing just that. You are the one that stated all this by trying to insult all of us with the posts. You're the one bashing, not us.

I'm talking about my dad owning lifted trucks since the 70s and 80s that's old school, not the 90s. Hell I'm only 19, and I owned lifted trucks in the 90s. I will continue knock anyone and everyone that can't install their own lift but wants to try and talk about how much they know about lifts, tires, and offroading. If you don't know about that kind of stuff, that's fine, but don't try to act like you do. That would be equivelent to me trying to tell Tech how to install a system, I don't know about that stuff so I don't try to talk about it and act like I do. It's a pretty common thing to see that stuff going on in this forum. :rockon MT where everyone is honest and helps out others rather than bashing their rides.

My dad has plenty of money to pay anyone to do anything he wants done to his trucks, but we still put all our own lifts on and do all our own work. It's called having the self satisfaction of knowing that you can mod your truck by yourself and knowing that you don't have to pay someone to do that kind of stuff. Yes there are those select few that pay someone to do stuff because they don't have the time, but for the most part if you pay someone to do it chances are you couldn't do it yourself.

Yes I did. And I clarified why some people don't install there own stuff. Just because you don't install doesn't mean you don't have knowledge of a system. Don't you just those hate asphalt cowboy's?

You said don't knock someone because they paid to have their stuff installed, when I said the only people I knock are those that paid because they couldn't do it themselves then try to tell others stuff about lifts, tires, etc when they don't even know what they're talking about.

I'm far to gangster to know about all this stuff anyways, why am I even acting like I know what I'm talking about.... Well, hopefully I'll be able to get my new THUG LIFE sticker put on my windshield this weekend, because my Titan is sooo hood!!!:jester:

I take it you paid to have everything installed?

Haha oh yeah I guess now's the best time to come clean about not knowing anything at all about trucks. I paid someone to put the lift on my Ford, paid someone to put the gears in it, put a bigger turbo on, build and install traction bars, and the body lift on. I'm sure there's probably some other stuff I forgot. Can you believe it only cost me $900 to get my spindles put on, then another $300 to do the rear blocks because those things are just way to hard to put on, oh and it also cost another $200 to get the rear shocks put on. And add another $275 to have my toolbox put in with special anti theft bolts. :jester:
