2005 SE Crew Cab, I have a four inch lift on size 33 inch tires. Do you recommend driving in drive or overdrive in town? With gas prices as high as they are, I would like to keep the RPMs down. Also, I've read some "heated seats" issues with the 2005s and my passenger heated seat gets warm at best. What do you recommend?

While I don't have a 4" lift, I would just put it into OD! If you feel like it is lugging on hills, put it into 4th!

No idea about the heated seats though. Sorry

No, I always put mine in OD. If I am driving in a hilly area, wher I don't want the rpm's low, going up a hill, I will put it into 4th.

Maybe I just weird, but I don't like them low while going up a hill.

I love going up hill with low rpms, putting that low end torque to use. I can cruise by the other trucks up a decent hill in 5th only pulling 1500 rpms. While I pass I can hear their truck working quite a bit higher in the rpm range.

citti34, you can leave it in OD. 33 inch tires are less than a half inch larger in diameter than stock tires (32.6 inches). Your 33's probably weigh more but I don't think it will affect it too much. If you have the BT gears then your golden. I'm not too sure about the heated seat thing, don't need them in SoCal.

Ha, told you I was a noob. I've been driving this beast in 4th thinking that was OD.

throughout town i dont see why youd need to be in anything other than drive (5th gear) like desertruner said 33"s arent much bigger than stock and downshifting to 4th is only going to raise RPM

and OD is more like tow/haul mode, 4th is just a lower gear

That's hard on the transmission, and you're not cooling as effectively.

Reving it out won't hurt a thing.
