Hey TITANTREX. I have just installed a tornado fuel saver in my titan. I also installed a k&n drop in replacement air filter. Truck only has 800 miles on it. Filling up my tank today (after I go by the bank for a small personal loan). I will let everybody know what kind of milage I get next week.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's pretty likely that you won't see any improvement from the tornado. If you examine the flow characteristics of air that is spun in a "tornado" fashion, there are different rates of flow at different points from the center of the vortex. It does little to improve atomization, and if anything provides drag on the intake cycle, reducing the efficiency of your engine as an air pump.

Yeah I figured as much. I didn't pay a whole lot for it and I can return it if it doesn't work. I thought it might be worth a shot though. My Titan got an average of 14 MPG on the last tank. Still better than my 97 Dodge Ram 4x4 got at 13 MPG. With only 900 miles on the truck it should improve a little once broken in.Thanks

Same goes for low restriction air filters, relative to mpg

Same goes for low restriction air filters-like K&N. At part throttle The contribution to pumping losses from the airfilter is tiny compared to the throttle valve-plate plugging the intake tract(another reason Diesels can get better mpg). Now,they might give an increase in peak hp(especially with a well designed cold air intake),but not in mpg.I doubt even a good cold air intake can improve fuel efficiency by enough for us to measure. The 1-2mpg increases some members report after aftermarket intake installations(6-12%) are no doubt true, but it isn't from any aftermarket intake.Nissan has engineers working for them, they wouldn't leave even 1/4 mpg on the table.
No I don't think they(the factory engineers) are so constrained(on the intake side) by noise or other regs, and that is why they can't do what the aftermarket does;besides many of these aftermarket parts are approved by CA,which has strict regs.Charlie

Filled my tank and ck'd mileage day before yesterday. Got 15.2 mpg, literally filled tank until a few drops ran over. About one third was in town with a lot of stop and go. Some of "highway" time was on mountain backroads I was forced to take because of a road closure due to an accident, during this 75 mile detour there were many times when tranny downshifted and stayed there. Used air conditioner about one third of the time. I only have 400+ miles on the truck now. I have a King Cab LE w/out Big Tow or Off Road package. Ray

Has anyone actually put 28 gallons in the tank? I take my LE CC down to below the E line and still only fit in around 26 even after topping it off a few times. Where are those other 2 gallons?
Those extra 2 gallons are for us guys that continue to tell our selves I can make it back to work, then when we get out of work late we say I can make it back home without running out of gas.

Consider yourself lucky! Mine is worse than yours. At empty with the light on for thirty or so miles I still can't get more than 22 gallons in the tank.

1/4 five gallons
1/2 nine
3/4 16
full 22

After repeated calls Nissan has no answer. I've gotten responses ranging from its normal to maybe your tank only has 22 gallon capacity. What???

Why don't you bring a couple gallons of gas with you and drive it untill you run out. Then you can know for sure how far you can go. On my car i have had the gas gauge so far past E you couldn't barely see the stick anymore. I haven't run out yet. I haven't let the titan go that far as of now.

I'm no tech genius, but i think I remember reading that it's not good for your vehicle to run out of gas totally. Something about pulling a vacuum in the fuel system and/or sucking sludge out of the tank, although our new Titans probably haven't had too much time to get gunky yet.

Asking someone to admit they are now or have ever used a Tornado is like asking someone to admit they were raped by the family pit bull when they were 7 years old... Nobody's going to admit it... It'd be too embarrassing...
austin you must be a jerk it really works but the raped part must know about

Relax...

Dude, I really think he was just jokin'.

I ran my tundra out of gas and ruined all of the o2 sensors, $700 to fix. Lucky for me Toyota picked up the tab.

Just filled up with only 200 miles on the odo and logged 180 miles and took on 12.313 gal of fuel with no extra "clicking". This yields 14.61 mpg on mostly city type driving and I predict I can get mid 17's highway eventually I used to have an Xterra so this is wonderful news!
Tire pressure was 35psi all around and have bumped that to 38psi to check mileage and ride quality.

Interestingly enough the needle came off full rather quickly(unusual) and when I filled up at 180 miles it read exactly 1/2 full. Usually the float gets pinned against the top of the tank for 80+ miles before it starts down giving a false impression of fuel economy.

Without taking it to fumes I wonder if there is a generous space below empty for guys like me who once had VW's? I calculate based on what I have seen so far a 4 gallon reserve at empty.

my last tank was 13.6, dropping a bit from my last of 14.3 but thats due to me driving pretty much all city this last tank.

dont have a titan yet but my stock 99 EX CAB Z71 does 17 around town and 19-20 on the freeway. It also has 65,000 miles. Hope to trade it in soon on a titan.I bet with air intake and exhaust you could get alittle better milage. Mark
