ok so I have been looking into tinting my titan, but I've got a few questions. I know in TN the law is 35% on all windows but front yet I see people with much darker all around all the time, do any of you all in TN know about how low i can go and not be bothered by the cops? Also do you know of any good shops around the Nashville area to do the tinting? I really want to get the front tinted too because when it gets hot in the summer a black truck is not too fun to hop in after the sun has been shining in all day. I have a black 08 king cab. I really would like for the tint to be pretty close to matching all the way around instead of having a few different shades. but anyways thanks for the help in advance

I have lived in Knoxville my whole life and I got my truck windows tinited to match the back. I have 20% all the way around my Titan. I got stationed in Virginia now and my windows are still tinted the same way and i have had no problems with cops. The factory tint on the back is 20% so all you need is the front tinted and its usually $60 to tint the front 2 windows....Hope this helps...

My front are 30% and I really wouldn't want them to be any darker than that b/c of night-time visability. My old car had 20% all around and it made it difficult to see curbs and such at night. Cops never bothered me with either tint level. The 30% does a good job of cutting down the summer heat. You should get a good windshield shade too - makes the biggest difference.

It is 35% for the front here in TN but I went a little darker on mine and it matches the back pretty well. I can't remember what % I went with but it was only like 2% different from the back and you can't really tell. As far as the cops go, you may never have problems unless you get stopped for something else or get someone looking to write a ticket.

I went with 30% in the front and 5% in the rear, 5% is great in the day, but at night you better get used to rolling down your windows and using your mirrors to back up! My neighbor is a police officer, and he said the 30% in the front shouldn't cause any problems with law enforcement.

thanks for the input everybody, so do you all think 35% on the windshield would be ok? and im thinking i will probably go somewhere around 25% on the front windows so it will still be close to matching the back but I will still have pretty good visibility

oh and I almost forgot I read where people had been having problems with their tints getting scratched due to their not being a peice of felt on the rubber at the base of the window. is this still a problem with the 08's or has this been fixed
Hold the phone , I hope you are not talking about tinting the WHOLE front windshild . Because you will be pulled over, You will get a ticket and you will have to remove the tint from your front windshield per order of the court. If you want to go alittle darker on the sides it shouldnt be a big deal with the cops, but if you go a little darker on the sides AND tint the front windshield, Your going to get pulled over. Just my opinion .

But trust me , you get what you pay for. Not to mention the peace of mind.

ok guys I went ahead and got it done today. I went to All American Window Tinting in off Hwy 109 in lebanon. I was referred to them by a friend who owns a dealership. I looked em up on the internet and there were a bunch of good reviews so i called em to get a quote then decided just do it, so i went in and decided to just get 35% on the front side windows because they only had 35% 15% and 5%. I really wanted 25 but wouldnt want much darker than that and since that wasnt available i decided 35% would be fine. On the front windshield i got an extra large sunstrip across the top and its 5%. It looks great. they did a fantastic job. it is closer to matching the the KC windows than i expected it to be which is great. I kinda wish it was just a little bit darker but its all good i still like it. and the sun strip across the top is great because im pretty tall(6'5") and for some reason the sun seems to hit me in the eyes worse than people shorter than me and the sun visors are no good because im too high up so when they are down i cant even see the road. so it is very helpful. it is a little weird looking at a windshield with 5% tint and not tint on it at the same time haha but nonetheless i like it

I put 20% on the front side windows with two 8" strips on the front windshield. 20% matches the factory back well but honestly I would like it a little darker. I live in East Kentucky and never have any problems here, Im also in Norton, Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City at least once a month with no problems. :ftard:
uhh dude, in cali, NO tint on front windows are legal! we can have 5% on the back tho
