I have a question for you. I haven't really noticed the fading in and out. The only thing I have really noticed is the complete and total lack of ANY and ALL bass when listening to the radio and the volume difference between radio and CD. Playing CDs the bass is fine for what it is. Should this take care of that too?

Also, is says vehicled built before 6/7/04, anyone with a truck built after that with our problem?
My daughters was built mid June and using same station side by side her radio is way better than mine built in Feb. More bass better sound. Still has different sound from CD but hers can be adjusted to sound decent at least, mine can't.

I wonder if this will do anything for am reception also?

I wonder if Nissan has enough of these new units to supply what is going to be a huge demand for them, or if its going to be a long wait time to get one.

It looks like there has been a fix for Titans coming off the assembly line for almost a month now. It seems like the TSB doesn't differentiate between the Rockford Fosgate and non Fosgate models. That's good because I have the fade problem with my non Fosgate system.

I guess that I have the radio issue. I like to drive with my windows down and I have to blast the radio in order to hear it. I'm afraid that I will blow a speaker if I do this though. It sounds like someone has turned the bass all the way down and the treble and mids all the way up. Does this sound similar to all of ya'lls problems? Printed off both TSB's, Brakes and Radio, taking the "TANK" in tomorrow and will have these looked at. I would appreciate it if I could get some feedback on this thread. Thanks as always.

Sounds like you don't have the same problem. Mine is exactly as described in the TSB, "...the treble fades in and out, and/or the radio switches from stereo to mono." Your problem seems to be somewhat opposite, loud treble w/ little bass.

Also, the problem repeats itself. The radio, eventually, will correct the treble and sound normal for a while then fade again unsuspectedly. Are you experiencing this?

ttam, I have the EXACT same problem, it is what I described. My FM/AM reception is fine and consistent...consistenly bad.

There is what seems like NO BASS at all coming through my radio and I have to turn it way the heck up to hear it at the same level as a CD.

I've been waiting for this TSB to come out before I took my radio in to get it serviced. Seems like Nissan has pointed the finger at Panasonic so the service guys will hopefully be more receptive to the issue now. I don't listen to the radio much but did have the FM fade, volume difference, and bass quality issues. I've scheduled an appointment for tomorrow, even though the service guy I just talked to over the phone was not aware of any problems with the Titan radio, but at least he made note of the TSB number I gave him. They will also look at the brakes because I have had a couple of instances with brake judder (only 1200 miles so far but I drive down a 5 mile hill every day and it is hard on my brakes). He did admit that there was a known problem with the brakes on some Titans. If there is anything worth reporting after my service tomorrow I'll post it.

Change the antennae for good AM reception. Put in a normal pull up three
section mast. It will be ugly compared to the stock unit but will work much
better for non local AM.

You have proven this to work? My AM reception is non-existent and would like to improve it.

Yeah,
I hear ya trikky. I really didn't notice it that much at first. I have always had some kind of upgraded radio system until now. I guess I have grown-up some now. I thought that it sounded fine untill everyone strarted posting their different issues about their radios and took some notes and started noticing some similar problems. Like crappy sound for one. My Cd's sound good but some are louder than others. I don't know if it has something to do with the way different CD's are wrote to the disc or what. Has anyone else noticed that some CD's are louder or am I just dreaming? Also, I wonder if the TSB will cover my issue? I've never heard another Titans radio that does have this problem. My father-in-laws sounds alot similar to mine. No bass all treble. And yes Texas_titan I do experience this on some occasions

Read the "If you Confirm" on the TSB. Better hope you can replicate to their satisfaction. Problem is that mine is crappy 99% of the time. Generally, when I first start the car, the radio sounds fine, but after driving for a couple of minutes it craps out, and rarely comes back. Nissan knows all these radios have the problem, but even now are still ****ing everyone around. I can hear the tech now, "Sounds the same to me". Yeah, because my radio rarely ever sounds worth a crap. I guess I will have to have the doofus spend the night in my garage so he can hear the radio when the car is first started in the morning, which is about the only time the radio works correctly...for 2 minutes. I will keep my fingers crossed, and just maybe this once the Service Dept will do the right thing.

Yes or I wouldn't have posted it. I bought the a three mast unit with a
AM coil from CCrane. I am assuming you don't have a radio problem. It
about doubles the AM range compared to stock but it is UGLY and I don't
care:)

Built 6/24/04
No radio problems

Yeah, you had better be able to re-produce the problem or nothing will be done. I took mine in today after printing off the TSB and took it in and the service manager studied it for what seemed an eternity. He is "checking into it" and will call me when he hears something? I thought this was a done deal and they would just order me the new unit but I guess I am mistaken. ANyone have a link from Nissan's website and not infinity's? He acts like I made this whole TSB up myself I think.

Went straight to the dealer after work today with TSB in hand. As others posted, my service guy was able to find the TSB on Nissan's site. He took down the VIN and serial number info on radio and will order tommorrow. He said it could be here in a couple of days but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting. Will post results.

Ill bet the replacement radios still sound like crap. Also no telling what other parts they will break while trying to replace the radio. Can you tell I dont trust anyone touching my cars...
