Just got back from the dealer. New radio works as it should. The volume level seems to be a little lower than before. Before I used to have my volume between 14 and 20...now it seems I am consistently around19-20. Anybody else notice this with the new radios? Also, the bass seems to be a little more enhanced.................

New radios were ordered for our trucks, today (different dealers). Neither dealer bothered with the "if you confirm" statement in the TSB. Both trucks are 4WD so they have "B" in the 8th digit of the VIN instead of the "A" listed in the TSB. There was another thread from a member whose dealer had an issue with this. So far, so good.

It was kinda cranky when I went to set my FM stations.
It should be a simple process to set stations. Push the button and hold. What extra work did you need to do to get it to work? Did anybody else have this problem? Could it be you have a new radio with a defect?

i had an issue with the service writer not liking the 'b' in the vin. spoke with the service dept manager about it and he didn't hesitate to say it applied to mine. i got the model # off the radio myself to avoid a needless trip to them and they were fine with it. should be in this week. along with a replacement drivers side capt. chair seatback because mine didn't have the lumbar lever if you can believe that!

Got the new stereo installed today and you guy will not beleve what happend, well the last time I posted and told you how thay hacked up my dash and consol. Well they replaced the stereo and then without my permission had someone try to fix where the damaged it the first time. Needless to say it looks 100000 times worse I almost S**T myself when I saw what they did to my truck. I am meeting with the Owner tomorrow to discus the NEW Dashboard they will be putting in my truck ( Mother F***ers)
:crying: :soap:

Man, that looks bad! This is the reason I haven't taken mine in yet. I really want the part replaced, but I just can't stomach what they could do to my new truck's dash.
What a dilema!
I sent the sales manager an email about this very thing and I'll post the results soon.
He said he'll refer my case to a service guy, but no one has contacted me yet!

I have to agree with you on this! I would not put up with that kind of work being done on my truck! My dealer scratched up my sill plates when they put in a new power seat on the pass. side of the truck!
When I pointed it out to them he looked at it and said we'll order you a new one right away! I wish they would be more carfull when working on these trucks! I know that when I'm working on someones house that I take great personal care in what I'm doing! They sould have more pride in there work!
Deep.

I pick my truck up today after getting the radio replaced. I scratched up the dash a little when I started to attempt to fix it myself (via the instructions on previous thread showing the steps) but I decided not to, so I already know what scratches are on the dash. Anyway, hopefully everything will be fixed and I will have no problems sitting in traffic listening to my hearts content! LOL

Wow, sorry to hear the dealers are hacking up dashboards. It is not that complex of a replacement and there is no reason thay cannot take easy steps to protect things. I think just before I take mine in I will snap a few time/date stamped pictures...just in case. That way there will be no confusion. Little scratches and scrapes like those would drive me crazy!!

I'm sure there's many a tradesman out there who knows this is another case of the WRONG TOOL FOR THE WRONG JOB! I don't wish it upon anyone but sooner or later they'll learn when they slip and instead of damaging someone's dash they're going to stab themsleves. Then OSHA will show up and start asking a lot of questions about how the idiot put a screwdriver through their hand, why his supervisor let said idiot do something that stupid, and why the dealership allows unsafe work practices. A nice hefty fine and an increase in their workers comp premium would soon follow.

Well, I just got mine in yesterday and am happy to say it works much better and they did not scratch my interior because I already had the faceplate removed. I suggest everyone do this that way you can only blame yourself if it gets scratched.

Update:
just to add insult to injury, when I was on my way back to the dealer this morning to dicuss what they are going to do about fixing everything, I noticed that the NEW radio they put in was broken!!! yes you heard me right !!! unable to load CD'S.
Ok ! let summarize
1 Bring it in to replace radio the Dealer hacks up the dash to pull the numbers
2 Radio ordered wait 2 weeks
3 Bring it in for replacement Dealer replaces radio and destroys dash, A/Consol and stereo consol
4 Bring it in new stereo no good
5 listen to me tear the Service and the Dealership manager a new a** hole in front of a dozen customers (priceless)
6 Dealer has ordered for my truck, A new dashboard, new A/T consol, new stereo consol and new stereo (that will be number 2)
7 let you know how it turns out when all the parts come in ( its all very depressing )

I got my new radio on Wednesday, and the reception is great. However, I believe something isn't completely plugged into the back, because whenever I hit bump a terrible bass thud comes out of the speakers. This has happened 3 times since I got it fixed. The dealer is an hour away so I'd like to open the dash to check the connections myself.

Question: What tools are you all using to pop off the dash?

Obviously the screwdriver is going to scratch. I'm heading outside to take a look now, and if I can't get it off with my fingers I'll be back to check here.

Ok, now I'm mad. I got in the passenger side of my truck, and before I did anything I saw that the dealer put two 1/2" scratches on dash trying to pry the thing out. Its on the passenger side that angles away from the driver. I can't believe I missed it earlier. I'll try to take pictures of it and post. I hope this isn't going to be a pain to get resolved. I'll keep everyone posted.

just push down on the top of the panel you will see it flex, and then pull out with your fingertips ( push pull all at the same time), you dont need a screwdriver at all. well of course to unscrew the four screws holding the deck in place. be careful not to drop any
