off road wheel question-final word
JUMA SAID "I just got some OR's to put on my XE. I'd like to get them mounted right and I think they might be indexed to match up with an indexed tire. On my XE wheel/tire combo, each wheel had a small yellow rectangle that lined up with a similar sticker on the wheel. This is so the mounter gets the flattest side of the tire mounted on the highest side of the wheel, and thus the roundest combination; AKA road force balance. I note each of the OR wheels has a 3/4" square sticker inside on the flat of the wheel behind the spokes. could someone check and see if that lines up with a sticker or mark on the tire? juma"
Well I found out. the aluminum wheels have sticker on the flat of the rim behind the spokes. It has a "P" marked on it and it is about 3/4" square. At least the japanese tires like bridgestone have a faint ""P" painted on the tire about an inch out from the inside edge. Line up those "P's" when you mount your tire to wheel and it will be indexed to the best force balance. then just get them normal weight balanced. I checked all of mine as they were assembled today and they all came in well within spec in regard to force balance. juma
