Anyone know if Nissan will offer a manual transmission in the future? I'm sure the current auto is great, just not what I want.
Also, will Nissan offer a longbed crewcab?
I've narrowed my choices to the Titan and the F-150 but neither currently offers the truck in the configuration I want. I guess my Frontier will soldier on...

*****, You should take the automatic for a test drive...it is different than most automatics. I don't miss my manual tranny at all.

If enough folks request it, anythings' possible! I currently have the LB Supercharged Frontier (until I get the Titan Saturday) and I'm not worried about losing the extra 6" of bed length myself. But I'd bet there will be a longbed option in the future. There is talk about a diesel and V6 option in another year os so .....sao....who knows.

Agreed about the automatic tranny. It works flawlessly. It's hard to beat my '87 Turbo RX-7's manual tranny (smooth, crisp shifts that lock into place), but this truck has an amazing drivetrain.

You can hardly feel it shifting.

What manufacturer puts manuals in any of their optional engines (to compare similar sized engines)? None! I dont see why Nissan would be any different. There wouldnt be enough sales to justify the cost.

Er, I get can a Dodge with a Cummins diesel and a 6-speed transmission in their RAMs. I'm still undecided whether I'll go with the Dodge or wait for Nissan to come out with a diesel. I'm preferential to Nissans, but most of my relatives have Dodge trucks, including a few diesels. None have had any major problems.

Maybe I'm just getting too old. Up until the last two years, I've never had any problem finding a manual transmission in any truck. Now, I can't seem to find any 1/2 tons with a stick. Some of us have never driven anything else and prefer the control and mechanical simplicity of a manual. Electronic, adaptive automatics that are part of a computerized, integrated drivetrain system really don't interest me. Some of us want a truck to be a truck, not some metrosexual people mover. Time for this dinosaur to head back to the 3/4 ton camp...

Unfortunately that is very true (sad, but true)! You will have to head to the diesel camp, or get a smaller truck if you want to row your own gears...

right on brotha, who needs a soccer mom truck. Perhaps try the new 2005 Tacoma with a 6 speed manual.
