Hello,

I'm new here and am looking at buying a Titan tommorow. Can anyone tell of there good and bad experiences with the Titans. Should I feel confortable about buying this truck.

Thanks for any info,

WVHILLBILLY

I have had more or less good luck. The Titan is a good truck and you can find plenty of info on this site to make the right choice thats right for you.

wvhillbilly. Boy that was loaded question. I suggest you take an extra day and search thru the forum. There are numerous threads about problems and fixes. Where to start!!!
Do keep in mind, most people who post threads is because they have had problems and most people who are happy with their truck do not feel compelled to post, therefore, read through, take it all with a grain of salt and try to make an objective decision based on that bit of wisdom. For my part, I am delighted with my truck, have not had any problems yet at 900 miles.
Do buy late model 2004 as most bugs, we hope, have been worked out. This truck is awesome, drives great, has enough power to feed a small family of f-150's and then some, and looks killer!!!
Good luck. Read threads. There is a lot of very good info here.

Not to Hijack this thread, I'm new to this BB and a new 2004 Titan owner (06/04 born on date) of two weeks. Can someone post the current problems found with the 2004's or is there a link with this info.? Thanks.

I suggest you just go out and drive one. Listening to the ridiculas whining of some may scare you into thinking the Titan has major problems. Not the case. Mine was built 5/04 (I also know 3 others with earlier build dates) and it's an excellent truck. Any vehicle will have minor things here and there. Remember, most things you'll find here are those compaining about problems they've encountered or perceived problems. Otherwise there'd be nothing to talk about! Not too many people come here to just praise their trucks.
So read what others have to say...both good and bad and weed out the whining yourself. It's quite easy to do.

wvhillbilly, Welcome, I know what you mean. I was almost scared to buy my Titan a couple weeks ago due to reading all these posts. I bought an 04 myself and so far with about 1300 miles no regrets. The funest vehicle I have ever driven. My wife has almost taken it away from me.

Like some have said look at the mfg date. Others told me to find one built after 7/04. Others with earlier dates also have no problems. Personally I don't think the verdict is in on the 05's as to issues they will have. If you can get an excellent deal on that 04 (my dealer was ready to deal) then go for it. The money I saved was not worth the few changes they made to the 05 @ 6'3" and 235lbs the tailgate is not that heavy for me :) but do like the new assist!!!

Good Luck, you will love this truck

HillBilly: Where yat in West By GOD? I bought an 04 Titan about 2 weeks ago from Love Nissan in Saint Albans, and I am pleased. THat said, two weeks is not enough time to tell if there are any problems that have not surfaced. If problems arise, I think I can count on this website's vast quantity of info to help me find a direction to a solution. Get what you want, and if you are going to save a ton of cash buy an 04. If money is no object, get the 05. Good Luck.

Hillbilly, in a word, If you find the rite 04, BUY IT!!!!! I've had my LE-KC (8/04 build date) for about 6 wks. and it goes GREAT!!!!! NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!!, I have almost quit checking here because of all the CRYING AND WHINING that some of our members do on here!!!! I'm a pretty fussy guy, nearing 50yrs. old, and have NEVER SEEN SO MUCH CRYING about such MINOR problems!!!!!!!!!! Well, now you know where I stand!!!!!!!! Paul!!! :)

Thanks for all the input folks. I test drove a 2004 Titan today and was VERY impressed. This truck could jerk a kink in my 2003 f-150. If everything goes right , I will buy this truck Monday. This truck was built prior to 9/04 but not by much. I think I will give it a chance.

Trucknitz, I'm from Upshur County.

Thanks again,
WVHILLBILLY

WVHILLBILLY,

I purchased a new 2004 Titan on 11/06/04. It has a build date of 7-26-04. So far, I only have 750 miles on it but it has been great. I do understand your concern. I came here after purchasing mine and I was afraid I had made a mistake. However, I am becoming more sure of my purchase each mile. I think that there are no "perfect manufacturers" just so long as they fix the problems in a timely and courteous manner. By no means is this a flame on people who have complained on here. For most of us, our vehicle is our second largest expenditure next to a house. People have a right to expect value for thier money. I think you will find this forum a great source of information. I know I have in the short amount of time I have been here.

Good Luck on your search.

I should add...

We had 28,848 miles on the '04 and we did do it again...

Now in an '05 with right at 2,100 on her already...

Chris
Congrats on the new ride.
Why did you trade so soon, e.g., great savings on the '05, etc.?
Does the '05 still have the awesome throttle response? I'd read here where customer complaints of jerking a crick in their neck caused Nissan to recalibrate the PCM to lessen the response. Personally, I love the throttle response and would miss it in a newer Titan.

WVHilbilly . . . Our build dates are in the signature block, below. I haven't posted any whiney complaints because we haven't had anything to complain about. We've both had our radios replaced. Both differentials in both trucks had low oil levels initially. That's about it.
Titans are extraordinary trucks. A pleasure to own and drive.
Unfortunately, some of the members here have had less positive experiences.
I think you're best advantage is to get one with the latest build date possible. Get one with as few miles as possible, i.e. one that hasn't had any cold engine/full throttle "test drives".
Take a look at F150online.com if you'd like to read some posts from folks with real reasons to whine.

To bad you don't live in, or, near California. You could get a screamin' deal on my "babied" '04 4x4 crewcab Titan SE. Only 1500 miles on it - built: 9/04. Just bought it end of Oct., but now need 3/4 or 1 ton to pull toy hauler. Awesome truck that I am "sick" about giving up.

Completely agree. There are a lot of whiners on this site and the stuff they whine about is ridiculous. Many things these whiners complain about have no bearing on mechanical integrity at all. It's that they just don't like some of the characteristics of the "TRUCK" and would like it to be more car like.

Also as I've learned in the Home Theater forums I belong to, there's corporate reps of the competition trying to use stories to scare buyers to their lots. They get paid to be active members as they can have hundreds to thousands of posts/threads. This eludes that they are hobbyists or enthusiasts other than the lobbyist they truly are.

No problems except changing out the radio which was a very common and known TSB. See here. The only real problem that I have is with the aftermarket PACE-EDWARDS Jack Rabbit hard rectractible tonneau cover. If you want a dry bed, don't get this product even though the documentation says that the tubes will route water out so that the bed stays 'dry'. It's NEVER dry. Glad I have that literature.;)

Have a good one.
