This thread is a continuation of this one:

http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tit...forums/titan-performance-modifications/114194-jwt-s7-s2-cams-finally-order.html

Still doing a little dialing but nothing much until I finish my exhaust system.

As promised, here are some links to videos of the T idling and a couple runs.
I also plan to do one of just normal driving for those curious about drive-ability.

Dangit, now more money I have to spend. Nismo headers, cams, and trans go, Uprev. You have that in yours don't you, seeing how that shifted. Oops now I see it in your sig. That is just awesome, although the Nismo catback would be too much for me to tolerate on the road, but it sure sounds sweet. Well actually I already planned most of that mod stuff for mine, was on the fence with cams, but not anymore.

Nice videos man! She really rips. What are your 0-60 times?
Thanks, my best so far is 5.91s with 92F IT. Here in subtropic south Louisiana, my intake temps are usually well over 120F landing me in the 6.1X range. I am looking forward to seeing what she will do with some cold air.

Wow I dont think I have ever seen my IT above 80 here in alaska. its usually between 60-70. Imagine what your truck would do up here.

thanks for the video's!! this will be my next mod and am liking what i see on top end, even the wheel spin down low tells me there is still torque there as well :)
how well do you think your truck would do towing something now? like a boat?

I have a few throttle steps in most of my maps to minimize WOT launch wheel spin; however, with 20 inches (literally 10"x2 tied with trutrac) of contact patch, there was not a whole lot of summer tire spinning going on even before the cams. The throttle management is more for winter when the truck runs better and the tires grip less. All in all, she still holds her own off the line. The exhaust I am building should help a bit off the line too.

Good timing on your other question as I pulled a 7K pound camper yesterday. It doesn't pull as strong as before but I didn't have any problems. I used to never us the tow mode but did yesterday just to hold onto gears a little longer. Though driven to wrinkle asphalt, when I put something on the back I take it pretty easy so I never got her into the upper power bands; but they are there if you had to use them.

Looks like mid 13's in a good DA is a certain thing:)

I hope you are right. It would be real nice to get lower mid 13s in some 40F air. I have a bit of weight I can shed if I head to the track too; although I doubt I will bother. Last time I went with kids car seats and all (FST+).

I had one really good run late last night but the vid came out like crap because I used a picture camera instead of a video camera.
Here it is anyway. My ITs went from 106 to 102 through the run.

any faster times at the track for you??? Im going back on wednesday. Im going to try to switch out my wheels and with stock '06 LE wheels and tires
Not sure if you have done this before but it is a huge difference. Between the 33" diameter and all the weight, it is like an anchor. Your new challenge may be to stay hooked up.....

You right. It is a huge anchor. I wasnt able to to put my friends rims and tires on my truck because of my big brake kit. I ran the same times as last time. I know if i took off a lot of stuff I could run a faster time but I want to keep it in street trim even if I stay slow. Maybe after Uprev it will get a bit better.

Just curious, what are your before/after 0-60 times? I saw you said 92* being 5.91s...
This isn't a straight forward answer because I changed so much on my truck at the same time I put the cams in. My truck has not been set up like it is now since last fall. At that time I was running 6.3s without headers or cams and +/-50F ITs. I then lifted it, put bigger, heavier tires on it and took off the ram air.
What I can tell you is that when it was 5" higher with 33" load rated E A/Ts on right before the cam install, I was running in the 6.7 to 6.9s range with 90-120F ITs. Right after the cam install before lowering, changing tires and putting the ram back on, I was 6.3 to 6.4s with 100-110F ITs. So to summarize, in off road trim, the cams improved 0-60mph by .4-.5s. I will not ever know the street trim number but it should be a little better (.5-.6s) as the truck lost some hole shot which is more detrimental to the off-road trim (heavy paw) launch than the street trim (light paw) launch.
In the end, I would like to see a 5.4-5.5s 0-60mph run when I have some 50F air again.

What I wrote above is the reason I mentioned this. I like to run in street trim too unless I have a reason to do otherwise. I stay a little too busy to make it to the track much so UpRev and GTec Pro RR are my track. I plan to make it in the fall with a local group and see how accurate this GTec is as I have never got to compare this one to track times.

Yeah, especially there on the coast. There is nothing like cold sea level air. I am from Wyoming and the air there is cool but thin. The amount of power you give up between sea level and 3-4K feet of altitude is unbelievable. You may very well know as you don't have to go far there to gain altitude quick.

I am looking forward to more folks doing them. I have studied PAPARYNO and Toomnymods videos and I think they retained a little more line torque than I did; but their tack slows a bit before 6K. I can still bark the 305/50s on a hot day so I don't need any more launch. For 1st, I wish the cams came in a little sooner; but there again that is still first gear only. Just for grins, I upped my rev limiter to 6400 a few nights ago and took it for one pull. (I know I should have video'd it) It pulled all the way to 6300ish and I slapped it over into second for a rather violent chirping shift into second. Kinda makes me wish I would have done the springs. Anyway, the point is that if you are more of a launch monger, you may want to consider S2/S2; but if you want the top end of every gear till around 150mph, S7/S2 is the way to go. I am playing with my timing to try and get a little more bottom end back. I also plan to put my new exhaust on tomorrow and it should help too.

Man your truck sounds good, but I still don't hear much lope to them? JWT said that combo should have a definite lope to them but I just don't hear it? It sounds like an r/v cam in a 350. I know they're different engines...... If you were to hear a cammed Cobra w/a 4.6L, you can tell for sure it has been cammed.....it thumps out the azz. Awesome truck none the less and congrats on the upgrade!!

I appreciate it. I can make it lope a little more if I back off the ignition and injector timing but them I have to idle it at 900-950 rpms. I used to run F-bodies with cammed LT1 and LS1s so I know what you mean. The DOHC and shorter stroke make it hard to put a thumper in and get it to run. It is made to breath deep and quick rather than deep and long, if you know what I mean.

I can hear the lope! TT08, you need new computer speakers:) LOL J/K I can only hear it a little also. Sounds bad AZZ!!
