First off i wanted to say hello to everyone.

My dear wife decided last week she wanted to get rid of her Honda accord and fell in love with the nissan rogue so she traded so there is a 2010 rogue in the garage. While we were there i looked a 08 titan le 4x4 and was impressed. Now this is coming from a guy thats driven f150's and a few chevy k10's since the late 70's.

anyway we went back to the dealership to look at the 08 again i had decided it was time to trade my reg cab 03 f150 for more cab space. They had sold the 08 but i bought a 2010 titan se 4x4 and wow this is one nice ride.

so im new here and doing some reading and searching but have a cpl quick questions. I talked to the service manager while i was there and told him that i normally do all my own maint and asked about performance mods and factory warranty. He basically said that if i went with Nismo parts and had them dealer installed there would be no trouble and no question about it effecting warranty.

so after reading some here i think the nismo cai and cat back system will work well for me, and i know ill pay more to have them install it but i dont want any warrenty problems down the road.

the only other mod ill be looking at down the road is good tuner that has the option for custom tunes.

The main question, damn i get long winded, with just the Nismo CAI and Catback and no tuner has anyone had problem with them leaning the engine out any ?? i know of the f150's 04 up its best to start with the tuner and then add other mods because it will flow better and can cause a to lean condition that the tuner will adj for. Or can a guy do the CAI and catback on the titans and then add the tuner later??

Also whats the general consensus on a good tuner that can write custom tunes??

Thanks in advance
Troy

Get that in writing.

To your question... if you are just doing intake an exhaust you can get a bullydog or something handheld but if you are looking for custom tune that's where uprev comes in.... and with uprev I believe you get three seperate tunes.. ie race, normal daily blah blah... and they are switched with your radio control or cruise control on your steering wheel and can be changed aslong as you are in park.... I believe....

Also congrats and welcome!

Welcome to TT. You will enjoy the Titan.

That's not necessarily true.... Back in 2005, the Warranty Guidelines clearly stated that modifications between the Throttle Body and Cats voided warranty coverage.... NOTHING about before the Throttle Body or afterthe Cats was mentioned anywhere... That means those areas are free reign to do whatever the heck you want with them with no impact on the Powertrain warranty at all...

I'd suggest reading your paperwork and getting the guidelines in writing as suggested above... Dealers aren't exactly all honest. ;)

u can do any intake or cat back exhaust, if i could do it again the CAI I would get would be the AEM cause of the dryflow filter, and i would keep my banks exhaust, and Bully Dog GT tuner; i did the CAI, then Exhaust, then Tuner and everything is fine on my truck, it will be even better for ur truck if u dont get the banks cause of the huge 3" pipes but it will still work

Basically all you need is a muffler swap and AEM Brute force intake, or a nismo Intake.. You really don't need a cat-back since you already have a true dual exhaust stock.

X2

Warranty honors with mods (any) are highly fragile territory. It seems almost completely arbitrary and up to the service manager at your local dealer.

man its good to see a freindly and used forum, guess i need to find out some more about the perf mods before i start on them. since ill being doing stuff a piece at a time i may opt for exterior products and tunes, that should keep me busy for a year or 2 :)

If your looking to install header's or cam's later on & want to have custom tunes our only tuning option is Up/Rev.

Check out their site:
UpRev - Engine Management

my service manager told me, the only thing that can be voided w/ a CAI is the MAF sensor. as far as exhaust he said doesnt void anything because its after the cats. a tuner will void a warranty but, then again, you can always return it to stock if you ever have an issue.

it shouldnt run lean with just a CAI. your keeping the stock MAF sensor. idk about exhaust but it shouldnt make it too drastic too worry about. i have the nismo intake and have had no issues.

I basically agree with all the above. Headers/cams, go with uprev. CAI/exhaust, handheld tuner (superchips/bullydog). Like it was stated above, with the hand helds you can always put it back to stock before you go to the dealer and they will have no idea that a tuner is installed. Also, make sure that you don't put the tuner's decal on your truck, that's a give-a-way that you have one. Other than that, welcome to the site and happy modding.

I just did the same thing. I have been a chevy guy for over 10 years. We went shopping for the wife an SUV and decided on the Armada. I loved it so much that I had to have a Titan. They are both great vehicles, and this is one of the best forums I have been a part of. Everyone seems to be positive and helpful.
Although, I do get jealous seeing all the West Coast guys pics and stories. It brings back my memories of the Air Force and the desert scenery.

Congratulations on your new truck my dad is a diehard ford man and he's wanting a Titan now it's a fine truck just a heads up though we have a pretty small aftermarket. And just like everyone said exhaust and intake you only need a handheld. Headers and so on you want UPREV. You can control your maps on the fly I saw someone said you had to be parked, you can switch while driving.

Thanks again all, i talked to the head of the service dept and he kinda backwashed and took the "any mods can effect the warrenty" so im thinking now that doing exterior and audio may keep mme broke for a cpl years then start on the performance side of it.

wahy happened the mageneson act. or whatever its called, that states the dealer can not void your warrenty if you mod. your vehicle, unless they can prove what you did was the cause of the failure?
