While driving around today I was trying to zero my odometer just after refueling.

While doing so I noticed the idiot transmission shifter indicator above the steering column. The indicator showed I was in "4" vs "D".

So, I moved the shift lever to the right side of the "D" position. That's right, my tach showed a drop of about 500 RPM.

Bottom line: Since getting this truck I've been driving it in fourth all the time. I'm not particularly stupid most of the time but I sure had a major brain f#*@ over this issue. Heck, I even read the manual.

As lame as it sounds, anyone getting poor fuel economy out there shoud make sure they are not pulling the idiotic trick I pulled.

The only good part is that the truck has only 1240 miles on it with about 400 highway miles.

Duh!!!

Hey look on the bright side "you were keeping the revs up in town to better break in the engine."

That would be my story, and I would stick to it! :coolsmile
