I think Road and Track said that it did a 6.5 or 6.7 0-60. i wonder if that was a 2 wheel drive model and if Tow MODE was on. Mine is quicker in Tow Mode it seems. Wht do you guys think. I think I read the times on one of those published test data books that nissan Dealers have sitting around.

I tried Tow Mode as well in some testing, it didn't seem to make a difference for me. It definitely shifts at a higher R.P.M in TM under normal throttle although when I have the pedal to the floor it shifts all the same no matter what mode.

Maybe just for Sh*!$ and Giggles next time I dyno I put it in TM and see what it does.

I think someone posted TruckTrend lowered the Titans from the 7's to 6.7 0 to 60 I believe. Not sure what model...I wonder what took them so long...

No ABLS here

Hey not ALL titans come with ABLS. If you don't have big tow or off road package then all you have is a piece of junk open rear end w/2.94 ratio. Trust me i know 1st hand...i own 1. I can punch the gas @ 15 mph and light up that right rear tire....the left rear does not even budge..

Keep in mind....POSI isn't what you seem to think. POSI is simply GMs name for their version of Limited Slip rear end. The rear wheels are not locked together as the name might imply. Also....the Titan does not have a Limited Slip rear OR front end. They are BOTH (on 4X4 models of course) open differentials that use Active Brake Limited slip...meaning the ABS senses wheel slip by seeing a difference in wheel speed between left and right wheels and then applys braking to the faster spinning wheel. On an open differential, power goes to both wheels until one wheel slips...then all that power is given to the wheel with the least resistance....the spinner. ABLS grabs that spinning wheel which directs the power to the opposite wheel. :teethmast

Huh? Everyone has an open diff no matter what package they have. The offroad does have the elocker though but its still open under normal conditions. I also think the brake limited slip is standard on all Titans. .

TRUST me they don't all have ABSL. Only LE 4x2 come with ABSL. So if you own a 4x2 thats not a LE model or doesn't have big tow or off-road then you are stuck with an open diff with out ABLS

Here is the link to the specs that show this http://www.nissanusa.com/vehicles/ModelSpecifications/1,,120021|122292|,00.html

I did not know that. Appreciate the enlightenment.

TRUST me your not missing out on anything...

All 4X4 models have 4 wheels ABLS and only 4X2 SEs with the OR package have it on the rear. It's also standard on 4X2 LEs. (4X2 XEs can have it in the trac package for 05). I'd certainly miss it if I didn't have it. Works great!

Thanks,

I'll admit in my experiences with the ABLS it was OK in low power situations but as far as high power situations it didn't seem to provide much assistance...

The trucks high power may have something to do with it but even so, if you have one rear wheel on ice and the other on dry pavement, even with a heavy foot, the truck will transfer power to the wheel on pavement. I did this (not on purpose either!) going up a friends 1/2 mile long uphill driveway. I could have just popped it into 4WD but...lol..this was more fun. Non ABLS trucks would have just sat there and spun one wheel.

I have the same results as Finnattic. My tires spin and I am glad they do. What a rush! The other night I tore up several starts with rigthtous burnies. Mine will continue to spin into 2nd if it is a little damp before VDC kicks in!

"What a rush." For a 4WD utility vehicle it does give quite a "rush" for what it is IMHO...

What he said! All 4X4 models, regardless of trim, OR, BT or whatever, come standard with ABLS. And yes, I would def miss it if I didn't have it. It may not be the best out there, but better than no LS at all.

It is interesting, though, that some 4X2's don't have it. I could maybe see why an XE 4X2 would not have it standard to keep cost down, but on the SE trim........come on Nissan!! Should be standard.

Agreed, I can admit while it may not be the best option out there IMO it's better than nothing...

I'm wondering how much of a factor if any ABLS will play into upgrading to a limited slip?
