Alright guys, new one for you (I think).
Two times within the last month my truck has failed to startup when I put the key in.
First: During vacation, got to hotel so the engine was nice and warm, parked, unpacked, started up to go to K-mart (5mins) to pickup some Lysol and Oust as my room stunk of mold (another story entirely). Went into K-mart, come back out, unlocked door with FOB, stick the key in, engine keeps cranking but no go. I pause 10 seconds, try again, keeps cranking no go. Pull the key out, lock the doors with the key fob, unlock with fob, open and close driver door, put key in, starts right up.
Second: Took a trip over to the new place I'm going to live so engine was warm, stopped to do some stuff inside, then restarted and drove to a gas station 5 minutes away. Filled up ($54 thank you very much NY) but had locked the door while filling. Paid, went back to truck, unlocked with fob, stuck key in, kept cranking. Pulled key out, stuck in again same deal. So again I took key out, locked with fob, unlocked with fob, opened and closed driver door, stuck key in and started right up.
Any ideas? Clearly by my actions I think it has something to do with the chip in the keys (at least I think there are chips in the keys if I remember correctly) and somehow it isn't getting read properly so I try to reset the security each time. What I don't know is if it is coincidence or if I am really fixing the problem.
I really don't want to end up getting stuck somewhere! Any thoughts?
