Yep, its true! Was doing an oil change on her this last Saturday. When lifting the plate underneath to put it back in place I saw a sticker on the inside of the bumper. Thinking it was another 'build sticker' I looked at it and guess what?

Our bumpers come from Mexico.

Chris

Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, VW, they all make car parts in Mexico...

Don't fret over your partially mexican made vehicles. At first it is hard to get used to, but you have to realize that if you did not have parts made in mexico, then you would have the worlds first 150,000 dollar truck. I think it sucks, but if thats what they have to do to my pickup to make it affordable, go for it. :)

If things are made in Mexico....whos' down there making them, cuz' it looks like most of them are here....Or wait, maybe this is Mexico...???
Excellent point....

Maybe we can open a plant in Texas, and pay them to work HERE for the price we pay them THERE, and its a win win situation. We get cheap vehicles, they get a job. We wouldnt have to pay much because the exchange rate is like 11 pesos to one dollar. More importantly, the money does not stay here anyway, it goes back to mexico.

Hmm...i can hear the ACLU stirring now.

Our bigtow side view mirrors are made in Australia by the same people make Ford's mirrors.
Who cares?

These people ----> "Titan is the only AMERICAN vehicle made, not even the big three can hang."

Its not a big deal. When i bought my Dodge in 1996, i had no idea or care where it was made. Turned out, it was assembled in mexico. Also turned out the the ones made in the mexico plant had less problems associated with them than the ones made in the US. Don't ask why, i have no idea.

Hey folks, better Mexico than India. Have you tried to get something straightened out on your computer lately. Can't even understand them. Nothing is done where you buy it. Sold a rifle to a guy the other day and when I went to get the background check for California, I asked the gal what the weather was like in Sacramento. She said she didn't know, she was in Arizona.

Because here in the US, they plant managers cannot cut off your hands if you assemble a vehicle poorly or it develops problems due to the assembly like they do down there. That and the 11 pesos a day they make actually has value to them, no benefits or health care, either... :jester:

Who knows? Maybe it costs to much to bribe quality control specialists in Mexico so they actually have to get them to pass inspection without a pay off. :D

YES, i did in the early 90's. This is why i am a computer guru. I was forced to repair, troubleshoot, and upgrade my own computer. Thus bypassing them all together. :)

Is it just me or are there a lot of references to 'them'. ONLY on the internet can one have a complete and total free exchange of thought without being inhibited by political correctness....

....or a swift punch in the head.

This would explain why I was driving the other day and my bumpers and leaf springs just fell of my truck as I pulled on to the freeway. :jester:

Dude, I don't like needing an interpreter every time I call tech support so I just fix it myself now...

"Hola, puedo ayudarle"

"Uhm....i'll call back later"

"yeah, dis here be Shaniquakoneefa Jackson. What you want callin up in dis plizace, yo.? Don't ax me no questions, i dont know want to help you cause i make 5.15 an hour"

"What"?

I have had both of these situations occur, very discouraging, and aggravating.

Mexico has compartive advantage over the United States in production costs with small parts.

I work for one of those who do computer support and service from India (not to mention Argentina, Panama, Phillipines, etc). You think it is bad trying to get service from them from the customer side, try being on the inside and getting help from them. I've worked for the company for 7yrs and have problems with them. Granted alot of stuff is supported by people in India (heck even McDonalds and Burger King are talking about outsourcing but that's a WHOLE other story altogether), but dealing with them from the inside and having to fix their screw ups is alot worse in my opinion and why I don't buy product from my company, cause i know just how easy it is for them to screw things up. Some of them are good, but alot of them aren't. Oh well

Look at the Pontiac GTO - made in Australia

the window sticker i wrote about in a earlier post stated the percentage of production foriegn /domestic and it read something like 20% japanese, +/- 10% canadian and like 60+/- u.s.a. and final assembly piont U.S.A. either way for being a "foriegn" truck more of it is made and assembled in the U.S.

Take for example the Camaro it was built in canada as with the Ford Crown VIC. If you look at all the major foriegn automaker asian and eroupean they all build some models here in the U.S.. i wonder if its because they wont have to pay import tariffs on the vehicles they builr here.

Now for the U.S. auotmaker making their domestic cars in foreign countries that's gotta be because it's obviously cheaper for them.

Funny., foriegn cars are actually domestic and domestic are actually foriegn.
