Today, when I got home from work, I had a box waiting on my front porch that had the Lowrance iWAY 500 GPS that I ordered in it.

This is truly a great unit; a 20 gig hard drive, MP3 player, 3D and Bird's eye views. As far as I know, schneid and I are the only ones on this forum that have one. Bass Pro Shops sells it for $1,000. I paid $630.00 at Shipdog.com.

I had so much fun with it that I burned a half a tank of $2.00 a gallon gas just driving around in the neighborhood just looking at the screen.

I'm not sure if I will hard wire it. I will likely move it back and forth between the Titan and my wife's Mitsu depending on which car we take a trip in. Even though I haven't done it yet, I will plug the wire into the aux jack to feed the sound through the Titan's speakers

I kept putting off getting a GPS and situations that I needed one kept popping up. Three weeks ago I pulled a car transport to Ft. Worth to pick up a '56 Chevy and I kept turning in the wrong direction. It was a pain going down narrow streets with cars parked on both sides.

I tried both the suction cup mount and the weighted base mounts. For now, I like the weighted base mount because I can just lift the whole GPS and mount and set on the floor on the driver's side when I park to keep it out of site of potential thieves. It stayed put on a recent trip that was over 500 miles.

Does it try to fall over if your taking a sharp turn? Its a good looking unit. I personally just have my little Garmin Vista. I take it on my business trips when I'm going to cities that I've never been to. It helped me in my last trip to Sacramento.

I have a question for you. Does the system talk to you as far as telling you how far to the next turn and stuff like that?

Yes it does. It has both audible and visual turn by turn cues that can be turned off if desired. It has bird's eye view and 3D views.

When you are driving you can just listen for the cues and never have to look at the screen that much. When you plot a course it says "turn right in two miles...turn right in point one mile....turn right in 200 ft. etc. If you miss a turn or turn in the wrong direction, it automatically redraws the route to put you back on course.

The whole thing stays put when using the weighted base mount. I drove all over Dallas this weekend without it coming close to falling off the dash. The center recess in the dash is taylor made for this unit.
