Where did any moderator state anything of the sort?QUOTE]

Here is a cut and paste:

As a moderator I am getting close to the point of simply deleting any post that asks this type of question. The Titan is a truck. It is not a race vehicle. It might be used to tow a race vehicle, but in of itself, it is not one.

Who cares if the Titan is faster than xxxx? You bought the Titan, you didn't buy the xxxx. If you wanted to buy something faster, you wouldn't have bought the Titan in the first place.

If you need to race someone to prove you have a faster truck, you might want to look at yourself and see if maybe you are not trying to compensate for some other shortcoming.

You are right, it is my opinion but as a moderator, my opinion holds a lot more weight that yours.

Roy, I personally don't have a beef with you because I don't know you. But what this tells me is that what is posted on here has to go with your personal agenda in order to be of any value or worth. My opinion is different, apparently others are on either side of the fence as well. And that's fine. But when you use degrading language and put down EVERYONE that does any sort of racing, legal or not, I'm just not going to play along with that. Hey maybe I'm just :crying: . I have re-read the post and while I get the gist of you doing your part as a mod (and it is a thankless job - I've had to deal with members on a forum I used to mod plenty of times), you still make way too generic comments for my taste. Just because I like to race anything with wheels on it doesn't mean I'm trying to compensate for anything.

No one needs to worry about me - I'm not going cold turkey but I plan to lay low for a bit.

Well Head, I for one will miss you and your post, the same way I would miss Roys and him being a moderator.

I have learned so much from you and I hope that with time you will feel comfortable enough again to share your technical know how and understanding of the Titan with the rest of us.
If you stop contributing here some other forum will be getting a goldmine and I'm feeling a little sad.

Heres a suggestion that another forum does, They have competition VS XXXX (insert Nissan in here) forum, and they have very strict guidelines about what you can post about and say, Heres some of the rules that are used and it does seem to work.
*************************************************************
ONLY TECH TALK IS ALLOWED IN THIS FORUM

The purpose of this forum is to make intelligent comparisons of other makes against XXXX brand. They don't have to be in favor of xxxx brand, but they must be reasonable in any matter or direction. NO BRAND BASHING WILL BE ALLOWED! PERIOD!!

THERE WILL BE:

-ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL ATTACKS ALLOWED PERIOD!!

-ABSOLUTELY NO PROFANITY!!
Absolutely NONE in reference or descriptions of people, places, or things.
*********************************************************
And it could be done with all users having to have a min. of lets say .....25 posts to be able to be allowed in there to help cut down on trolls and flame wars.

Oh and I think Squid would be very well quaified as moderator for this forum since he seems to know about many differant brands

Wow I had no idea. I think this may be the beginning of the end of TT... At least for me. Racing, street or track is one of my favorite things to do, ans if I cant brag about blasting a hemi on my computer in this free country or at least on this site. Then I'll have to find another.

All I can say is wow... I used to always come to this Titan forum over the club. Now I may have to change my viewing habits. As for the Head I used to always look for new posts from him. Also noted that his posts were mostly about performance that was tested on the quarter mile. Its ashamed to see that the people with power could turn around the morale of a otherwise outstanding site. I sure hope the advertisers agree with this new direction. Maybe the sierra club or MADD could start advertising here...

  Should the cheers gif be taken down? It could imply operating your Titan intoxicated........

This is real sad!

Well Here's A Suggestion

I have got to jump in on this now as it is going in a direction none of us want it to go.

First I will not participate in a "Who is wrong, who is right" discussion but rather try and find a constructive solution to resolve this mess.

I have PM'd the site administrators asking that they review these two threads dealing with this "issue." Hopefully we will get some guidance from those who own this site.

Secondly, I'd like to make a constructive suggestion. Might we not consider a "War Stories" forum much like the SRT site that ekool (adminstrator) also owns? The guidelines for posting in that forum would be specilaized for that particular forum with the typical disclaimers and warnings. I think with that specific forum, those who wish to race and post about it can and those who are not into that type of action do not have to enter that forum.

I hate to see people leave a good site over something that revolves around a difference of opinion. I think we all have much more in common then not and we tend to lose sight of the fact that we are all here in the first place because we have a special truck in the Titan and want to share information and experiences about our rides.

Any one else got any ideas about how to make TitanTalk even better?

Please let us know.

Thanks for joining in 37L1, there has to be a better solution that what RR is proposing. Maybe a forum where we discuss racing, race products and competition between other manufactures vehicles. The same rules which has goverened this site has worked very well in the past and should work well in the future. Most here are grown ups, except Squid, and will handle them selves accordingly. This is a good site and the freedom to express your self has always been one of the major drawing cards. I hope it continues. We also understand that along with freedoms come responsibilities. I think most here would accept those responsibilities, except Squid , of course.

I just don't want to see members who contribute leave. I've been hoping, (as I'm sure others have) that the powers that be are working on a solution off in the background. This is going to come down to what the managers and owners of the site feel appropriate, and I'm confident that a satisfactory solution will be found. When it comes to fairness at TitanTalk, I've never been disappointed.
With that said, I think the word for the day is, Patience.

well said 37!!! that sounds like a great idea!!! also let me add that this isn't a throwing rocks or a pissing contest, or a let my panties get in a bunch discussion and it most certainly isn't the impending doom of titantalk. the fact is one person took it upon himself to literally blow this out of proportion by throwing their weight around and implying to all of us, i am the god of titantalk and by golly you'll do exactly what i say. the so called job is to moderate now threaten or to publicly exacerbate how much power your position actually possesses. its like working for a boss that thinks he knows everything, when on the contrary doesn't and yet because he's a bit higher on the totem pole he feels invincible. wrong tactics, and people don't respond well to those who throw their weight around. take for example the thread in question. you can quickly say then go to another forum, but we all love this one. miketan simply asked a question and i can't believe because one person woke up on the wrong side of the bed had to levy his so-called power. just me rambling on...

I couldn't agree more. Squid pretty much summed up my feelings here. Let's not ruin a good thing because of one rough day. Patience is key. The operators and mods of this site have not let us down before now, why should we think anything will suddenly change. Let's just sit back, relax, and let the powers that be resolve this. Fighting about it will only make the issue grow larger.

Okay, here's my 2c.

I personally dont have a problem with a race post... i do race on the street -- and while I know it is illegal, I do try to maximize the safety possible, and only do it when the roads are empty.

Is it wrong? Yes... but, most of us (probably all of us) do something wrong and illegal some time or another, so now we are arguing about semantics and no one is perfect.

With that said, it is not the moderators or administrators position to force an opinion or behaviour upon anyone. I want this place to remain free, but within the bounds of reasonability and legality to cover my own *** from being sued.

I however, am not really worried about being sued over a kill story, so they have always been allowed.

I dont know if we need to dedicate a section to it, but if that is the general consensus of the board, we can certainly make that happen... so at this point, I think a vote is in order.

I'll get one started.

Everybody, Please Read

I had PM'd Roy (rrumaner) when I read his responses to the original post asking basically "What's up?"

Roy had a very unfortunate experience over Easter. He had (notice past tense) a good friend of over 20 years die in a street racing incident this weekend and had to identify the body for the grieving widow who was looking after her three kids.

Roy had tried to get his friend to stop the racing but he wouldn't listen and would always be talking about who he beat etc., etc. When Roy read the thread today he just lost it and responded the way he did.

He has asked that I let you all know that he is sorry for the way he responded and that he just isn't himself now that there has been so much death lately. Between losing Chris and now this, it's just a bit much.

Roy will be stepping back from moderating and TitanTalk until he's ready to take it on again:

"I am going to step away from the forum for a while and let things cool down as well as to get my mind on other things. I just cannot deal with seeeing people talk about racing their truck right now without losing it.

In the meantime, I will be around but not acting as a moderator. I simply cannot deal with it right now without trying to preach to everyone to slow down and live."

I know that all of us on TitanTalk wish the best for Roy.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Lon (37L1)

BTW, I've just recently talked to Rumaner about the situation and there were circumstances surrounding the post/close incident. Regardless, all complaints should be addressed to me and he was only acting upon my wishes, so please direct all hate mail at me :)

Roy has done so much for the site here and dedicated so much time, that it would be very short sighted to try to blame him and scare off an excellent moderator. We've had too many losses around here already, and we certainly dont need another one.

i knew there was something to roy's actions, and i am sorry roy lost his friend. makes much more sense to all of us, although that really was not conveyed in his message. well, i hope roy returns to his duties as soon as he sees fit, once again sorry for your loss roy...

Do not take all this personal Roy, sometimes it takes stirring the pot a little to make the soup taste better. You are one of the prime ingredients so stay in the pot.

I had a feeling there was more to this. Whether we agree or not with Roy, I'm sure we can all understand now why he reacted the way he did. I for one do not want to lose Roy as he has been such a large part of the growth of this site.
