Hey 6thsense,

I to have a PSP. It's a nice little toy when waiting at the dealership to get something fixed. I'm still trying to find a way to browse on the internet with it.

I think Sony is coming out with a browser for the PSP. Until then there is a hack used on the game Wipeout Pure that lets you do some browsing, albeit limited. I dont remember the sequence off the top of my head. Just do a search for PSP Wipeout Pure Browser Hack and you will find the info on it. :)

The DVD's arent based on Blue-Ray. It is called the UMD. A smaller proprietary size just for the PSP. Although Sony plans on releasing more products that use the UMD. The UMD only fits about 1.8 gig compared to 4.7 for a blank DVD or 9.4 for a store bought DVD(movie). You lose some resolution, and just about all the special features, but having a device that you can:
Watch movies, listen to music, store photos and view them, and yes it even plays games. Quite a few potentials for the little device.

I saw a demo and thought the image looked great. I'll start saving now. Single income now and can't buy everything I want but I'll have it soon enough. Thanks.
The image is great. I took it with me on a recent flight to California and I had people all around me at the terminal asking what it was and commenting on how good the picture looked.

I've never really gotten into the handhelds very much. I really don't know why. Actually, I guess it was because back in the days when everybody had a gameboy I thought they looked like crap. I guess I never got over that.

me too BLWedge lol..

Are those the Mini DVD's Can you burn them in a normal DVD Burner? If so you could compress DVD's in DVD formatt and watch them on the PSP?

You can take your dvd's at home and burn them into Mpeg4 and put them on a 1 or 2 gig memory stick and watch them. I guy I work with does it all the time and seems to work fine and looks great. You cant burn the dvds for the psp only because from what i have heard the disc are only made by sony and the format is well protected

You "Rip" the dvd's and convert them from mpeg2 to mpeg4. You can do decent quality and egt a file size of about 300 megs.
The PSP would kick a lot more *** if they would fix some of the media niggles. Its just kind of irratating but should be fixable with a bios update. Till then, Untold legends and ridge racer rock. Wipeout pure is ok but not nearly as good as ridge racer. We need more games!

I have one. they totally rock! Everywhere I go people always want to see it. The graphics are, as sony stated, PS2 quality. Anybody play basketball online? If so my screename is GHOST. late

If that works, then there is the problem of the proprietary case that the disk is housed it. Anyone have any idea as to where to get those. They look pretty tough to crack open.

No, they're not the mini-dvd's like you would find in some DVD-Camcorders. They are smaller than that. The only way presently to watch a movie is either buy the UMD version or like others stated use a program on your computer to rip and compress the movie down into a 1 to 2 gig size then copy it onto a memory stick and watch it that way. I currently have a 512 meg stick and have several music and music video files on it. Works like a champ.

I got a psp here also, I got it to bring offshore with me when i'm bored on the oil rigs haha

It looks really cool and everything but i had just recently got a mini ps2 and about 5 games all for the price of a psp with no games. I think i might wait a little bit for the price to drop and for them to come out with more games. Can't wait for E3 though!!

I acutally traded in my old PS2 for the smaller version the day before I bought the psp, sure the psp is double the price but you need a tv to play the ps2 haha
