Hello everyone. I just joined the forum after reading through pages and pages of previous posts. My current car lease is up in September, and I am getting a truck. I saw the Titan a few months ago and fell in love. I have yet to drive one, mostly because I know if I drive one now I will have 2 car payments until Sept :D

My question is for Titan owners that purchased the XE model. Do you regret not going with the SE or LE?

I am trying to keep my monthly payments at a decent level, plus I am sure the wife will be looking for a new car :D . The $ difference between the XE and SE is small, but the LE jumps a few thousand. I suppose the big question is what can I do with or without.

I was just curious if maybe there was 1 or 2 options the XE owners really regret not upgrading.

Thanks, and hopefully very soon I will be a proud owner.

Welcome to the forum and the answer is no. I have a 4x4 XE and I'm just as happy as the guy who bought the LE. Except I have lots of extra money to buy toys.

Well if you like chrome..you need to go Se or Le. Main diff. between Se...Le...leather and some other small whistles.

So...what do you like. Not into chrome mirrors or grille. XE is all yours. You can get any option you want on it pretty much. If you like chrome....you need to go with one of the other models. They all come with the endurance V8.

Thanks guys. The leather doesn't bother me, but I really dig the chrome grill.

I plan on getting the galaxy black with limited options. I will probably look to have an aftermarket rhinoliner sprayed, unless the factory spray is decent. I have yet to search the forums about this yet.

It appears maybe the SE would be a better choice since it has the chrome grill, and I recall the 18" wheels (correct me if I am wrong).

Do you guys park your trucks in a garage or leave them in the driveway at night? I have gotten so used to using our double garage that I have to check the dimensions. No biggy though.

As they said, it is really a preference thing for you and the options you really want. I wanted the utility bed package, so that required an SE/LE, but didn't want leather so that required XE/SE. So viola! I have an SE. There were other things involved as well, but that is one example of how you can choose based on options/funding.

Buy only what you can afford! Having to worry about a high payment won't make you love your truck any more. I have the SE and love it. I couldn't swing payments on the LE when we just bought the wife a $33k 04 Quest shortly before my Titan. I hated the leather they offered but some of the other LE extras might have been nice. I'm very happy with my truck.

I have the XE KC and I added power windows/locks/and alarm/autostart. However, I dont think I would do it all over again if I had the choice. It was a lot of work- I gues you could always just pay someone to do though. I kind of regret however not geting the CC mainly for rear passenger comfort. Other than that no regrets.

don't forget that you can trade some things like grills, mirror caps & door handles between XE's & SE/LE's. The SE/LE's do have the nicer 18"x8" wheels (also can be bought at reasonable prices here). The XE can also be bought with the factory spray in liner now, just not with the full utility bed package.

I have a garage full of junk, so my truck sits in the driveway. I have no idea if it would fit in my garage or not.

The problem is I could afford the LE, I just don't want to. At first my plan was to purchase a used truck (98-early 2000s). I am currently paying almost $500 for my car a month. I was hoping to drop that. Then I saw the Titan and basically threw the used truck idea out the window. :D

I only went SE because I needed the lumbar support. I have back issues and drive a lot.

I do like the power locks and windows, keyless entry, and (false) security system. Other than that I would have gone XE.
Not sure if you know this, but you don't have to buy the SE to get the power windows, locks and alarm. My XE Crew came with all that stuff as part of the preferred package. The XE King Cab is the XE without it.

The only thing I don't like about the XE is the wheels. I got a set of SE's for it to fix that (not in my sig pic).

The only thing I wish I had is the Big tow gearing and e locker, but otherwise I got exactly what I wanted with the prefered package or whatever they call it. What I really wish I had though is the power rear window on th 05 crew cabs.

Get the truck you want.
I noticed that your trading a car in for the truck. Will this be your first truck? Remember this is a truck and not a car, so don't expect it to drive, ride, or handle like a car. As a truck it will have it's negatives, louder than a car, not as smooth over bumps etc. etc. All in all though it has more positives than negatives, after owning a truck for a couple of years you will wonder how you ever lived without one.
Good luck.

Boy, am I dumb.

They had me at Lumbar Support

welcome welcome Mack!!! here's my take... have a smoke 2wd se but i would've been just as happy had i gotten a 4wd XE. all the amenities in the SE can pretty much be added to the XE piece by piece, with the exception of the fog lamps but even an aftermarket set would've sufficed. anyhow, either path you choose you will be ecstatic with your investment!!!

My lease is up in September, so I do not have a trade in. I use my company's Ford Ranger all the time to get large items for the home (I am a DIYer). The extra noise is not a problem (I used to have a race car). It just seems that every weekend I think of something I could get, only if I had a truck.

Knowing my luck, once I get a truck all of a sudden I will not need to purchase large items. :D
