Hi, All,
First, I want to thank all of you for the helpful advice. I recently traded in my, vibration prone, 2004 F150 Lariat in on a new Titan CC 2wd LE. The F150 was falling apart with no off-road abuse. The information on this site helped my decision to buy a Titan, and I am glad that I did!
Anyway, to the question..
I picked up the factory bug shield for the Titan hood. I noticed the plastic bumpers and tape. Is this bug guard is any good?, a pain in the butt to install?, or should I box it back up a and get something else? I’m more concerned about applying tape to my pristine hood since it’s only three weeks old ?
Thanks is advance

OEM bug/rock deflector is fine........

Welcome to TT daveinfla.........I've got the OEM bug/rock deflector.....and no problems....It's clear tape that goes on the hood......no biggie and you can't see it anyway under the deflector. I had the same style on my last Toyo for 6 years and no problems so I would just install it.......takes about 30-60 minutes depending on how many.... you have. I tried the SEARCH button here and found 0 but I know we have talked about it on TT.Good luck!
Peace-Tom:cheers:Highland Ale:cheers:

I have the OEM bug shield myself. Doesn't take long at all to install. You can see the shield in my sig. It's definitely doing the job because there are a ton of bugs here in the south.

I also installed the OEM bug shield and it is great...it took me about 30 mins to install...it was the first one i ever did and didnt want to mess anything up...the directions are easy...

It's good, but keep an eye on the rubber bump stops. Mine wore through the clear 3M tape within 8k and I had to get some more.

I dont know why...I check on mine all the time and they look as if I just put them on...is your shield tight enough so that it's not moving around constantly?

It's on as tight as I could go without stipping it. Maybe it's all the vibration from the warped rotors:) I hope the 3rd times the charm.

mines works good.

First bug shield i've had on any of my autos. I took a trip to Vegas and most of the bugs were on the shield although a couple made it to the windshield. oh well, easy install and looks nice

Ditto ~ been on my truck since I purchased it. No problems after 15 months and 9800 miles.

OEM bug shield is AOK

I also like the OEM bug shield. No issues after 20,000 miles. I like the fact that it is DOES NOT vibrate/oscilate at high speeds. I attribute that to the "sleeker than most" profile. Install took my about 1 hour but I am slow (AKA anal) with my installs. Good luck and welcome aboard.

I am also contemplating the bug deflector and wanted to get some clarification / give advise...

Question: If there is clear 3M tape and rubber bumpers, I take it the bumpers go on the shield and the tape on the hood?

Advise: If the above is true, you could do what I did on my Tacoma. I stuck the bumpers to the hood (will never rub the paint this way) and tossed the clear tape. She rode like this for 150,000 miles. Never an instance of trouble. I figured if I ever had to remove it, taking off the bumpers would be no different than taking off the tape.. right?

Let me know.

Great minds think alike? I was thinking the same thing, as long as it's on the truck who'd notice which way they were attached. Can anyone tellme what the oem unit costs?
Lastly, welcome to the forum daveinfla

Personally, for the price, I like the AVS Bugflector II that I purchased from Advance Auto Parts for about $35. The original rubber bump stops turned loose rather quickly so I picked up some from walmart for a couple bucks. No problems after about 6500 miles.
