So when I purchased my Titan (04 LE off road, big tow) in all the spec sheets, it listed that it came with a locking rear diff. When I got the titan after waiting for my exact model, it had traction control and not the electronic locking rear. Now even though I don't mind the traction control, I would like to have a locking differential for when I off road. If I turn the traction control off, the single tire just spins.

Does anyone have this setup? or did I just get screwed?

If you have an early build 04 you don't have the locking diff. Even if you did it only works in 4wd low range.By traction control do you mean VDC? You should turn off VDC when off roading. Does your ABLS work? You should get a slip light or B-slip light when your tires spin regardless of what drive mode you are in.

hey there cow town, how's it going??

It is VDC, but when I turn it off, and I am off road, the single wheel spins, so obviously it is not a locking diff. I have seen a electronic locker made by Detroit Locker, if I installed that, would I have to remove the VDC? If anyone knows fill me in.

when your tire spins does the slip light come on? It should come on and reduce the spinning of the tire and apply the power to the tire that is not spinning. If the slip does not come on have your ABS sensor checked.

Slip Light

The slip light does come on, however there is no loss to power. A stupid looking one wheel burnout is the result. That is only when the vdc is OFF. If it is on, and there is a little tire slip, it reduces power correctly, but it is annoying when I am trying to drive in the snow because it cuts almost all the power to the wheels.

Oh well...
