I have a rather odd Idea for a dual weedburner exhaust system using Thrush glasspacks. Does anyone at all have any idea what the back-pressure difference between a 22" and a 20" would be?

Negligible at best.

that's what i was thinking. Figured the restrictions in the cats would far override any differential.

Glasspacks will sounds like absolute garbage on a Titan.

Go with a flow through muffler like a Borla or Gibson. You will find that the titan sounds great at low RPM with any exhaust system on it. The disgusting sound comes at 1/2 throttle or more or over 3000RPM.

What I'm looking for is a sound that in no way can be mistaken for civilized. Also for a weedburner set up to eliminate the pipe rear of the mufflers... 18" max. Compact mufflers will be the main key to the setup I'm after. Any advice is appreciated as I would like to minimize CIS. But not worried about eliminating it altogether. I like a harsh note...not aiming for ' garbage' however.

I would contact member nightowl at cajun pipes. he will set you up with a very nice sounding exhaust thats proven on the Titans.

you must be referring to a "dumped" exhaust setup. Ive never heard of weed burner, but it seems to be a trucker term.

most places require a specific length of piping to be legal, so dumping it just before the rear axle seems to be the most popular. That is how mine is set up. i prefer the clean rear end look with no pipes anywhere.

weedburner IS a trucker term. A semi without stacks is most likely a 'weedburner' exhaust. Luckily, in my neck of the woods, I can do just about anything that doesn't break varied local sound ordinance. One man's garbage might be another man's goal, after watching about a dozen titan with glasspack vids on youtube, I'm not hearing anything that's too bad.

Revving isnt that bad. Its the pulls at 1/2 to full throttle that have A LOT of CIS (card in spokes sound). They are raspy and are not pleasant to most people. If you like obnoxious, crackling, popping exhaust then maybe thats what you should get.

lol. perhaps. Still exploring options however for my 'dumped' exhaust plan. I'm still a set of UCA's, a CIA, a front bumper and a set of tires away from even getting headers at this point. never hurts to feel about well in advance though.

So thanks to a certain person... I have re-assessed and yes.. I love the tomes under full honk and at idle, but cruising rpms sound like a cellophane bag full of mummified cats being run over by a tricycle on a gravel road

Further research has turned me on to these... as compact as I need for my application and the sounders are right in the league i'm looking for. Anyone have any knowledge on Gibson's CFT superflows?

Gibson CFT (Convergent Flow Technology) work well to pull the exhaust through the tubes and actually increase exhaust speed though the muffler. To my knowledge, no one has run one of the CFT mufflers on a titan. I currently have a 758250S 8" round muffler on my truck. With no cats, the truck is still very tame sounding. At first, I was hoping for a little more bark but after taking some longer trips in the truck with that kit, im very happy that its not louder. I can listen to my radio at a low volume and i can talk to anyone in the truck without having to turn my head or yell.

Are you running headers?

the set-up for now I want to get working on $ for I want it ready for a possible twin turbo install way down the road so likely short-pipe headers with good head reduction but nothing too fancy. i don't even care about the finish.

Ha good luck getting two turbos on this thing. If you can accomplish it eventually I'll be happy. Heck I've been wanting one for a while but everyone is afraid to put even one turbo on this truck or even a supercharger. Truck isn't meant for boost unless you build the engine.

the trans also doesnt hold up to boost, or the rear, unless you true track it.

there have been a few turbo titans, but none that the owner really enjoyed owning.

It's a thought for far down the road as it is. What I'm saying is that I'd like to set up with it in mind so I wouldn't necessarily have to start back from scratch if and when. For now, I want to open up the exhaust, Get a rowdy tone, and get my CAI built. As far as finding the turbos.. yeah, no one makes a 'kit' but with enough time and involvement I'm certain there's several 'universal' set ups that would work.

If your gonna do it you'll have to build the engine and put in at least 20k into it. Any type of forced induction on this truck isn't worth it unless your going for shock and awe.

Once it's paid off and I build another rig rocket, The T will become my 'shock and awe' toy.. it's in line right behind my creeeeeeeeeping along 92 ranger V8 hill climb racer project. I should be done with both sometime around my 80th-90th birthday.

Yes i have headers. Im running long tube Thorley headers (which i need to replace because both are cracked).

If you want rowdy, check out the JBA long tubes, Cajun B-pipes and a solid Y-pipe setup with a Borla muffler. The Gibson cat-back systems are build to offer a nice tone but not be loud. (everyone has a different opinion of "loud"). My sister says my truck is too loud. I think its perfect.
