Long story short, had my abs code at the dealer checked got the part i needed on order so I head home. 2 mins after I leave the dealership I have a rav 4 Pull out in front of me.

Now bear in mind. 6 inch lift and 35s and no abs working due to the code = longer stopping time. She was in the slow lane with a few cars ahead of her at the red light with no one in the fast lane at the light. I was in the fast lane slowing for the light when she decided that she wanted to be in my lane and in my grill. Needless to say couldnt stop in time and ended up all in her rear end.

My truck will have to have the whole front end replaced minus drivers side fender and head light every thing else is dented. The crash bars that hold the front bumper in place took it like a champ.

It was about a 35 mph hit with her going about 2 mph.

My damage was the fender, head light, front bumer, metal and plastic bits, grill, and hood.

She had her car towed, the crease from the quarter panel ran all the way to the drivers door. So itll needs some frame rail time, he back door was broken.

Should be going to the body shop in a day or 2. Sucks for them im going to be very picky.

Bummer, sounds as though nobody got hurt? So there's that...

Did the wheels lock up?

Make sure they check the tire, rim and all those components, because it looks like it hit your tire as well?? Sucks man

Punch, I'm glad that you and the individual you hit are both okay. From the looks of your truck I'm gonna place the estimate somewhere between $3200-$3800.

I dont think so, like I said my abs light was on so the abs wasnt working. I really didnt have time todo much more then get my foot off the gas pedel and onto the brake. Then I hit her.

Oh yea I have only had the lift kit on for 2 weeks I can tell she knocked out my alignment and when I talked to the body shop at the dealer he said Im more then welcome to be with him while he goes over the estimate that USAA adjuster turns over to him to make sure nothing gets missed

Yeahm thats what im thinking too. The Manager at the body shop has been cool so far. I told him I would be requesting OEM panels and he said if they gave me a hard time he would help me out so only time will tell.

My wife has a Rav4. I wish hers would get totaled so we could get rid of the hunk of schit.

Glad everyone is ok. That's what matters.

The reason I asked if the wheels locked up is because the abs not working most likely had nothing to do with the longer stopping time. The larger, heavier tires did.
I highly doubt you'll get oem panels, or even new ones at that. When my '05 Pontiac got hit back in '05 they were talking about used panels......until they realized it was totaled.
Either way, that sucks that your damn nice looking truck is hurt.

Oh yeah I understand what your saying. I could tell a difference in teh drivability the day it was lifted. So i always give my self extra room for this type of scenario. But at the end of the day i couldnt stop.

talked to USAA today and they said they dont mind using oem panels so that a good sigh of relief.

Im half tempted to just take the cash and fix it my self. That way I can buy some nice things. Like the fender flares and tom foolery like that. Opinions welcomed.

What would you do.

Get it done professionally...this way you have a warranty for the work.

I would always let USAA fix my rides; their 100% satisfaction is no joke. I turned down my truck TWICE and called USAA to tell them the job was substandard. They sent an inspector to the shop to mediate. I got my truck back in PERFECT condition.

Yeah, thats the only slight down side. Im confident in my self to fix it. and any paint work I can get done thru my brothers shop. its just si it worth the hassel and the ability to pocket a couple hundred bucks. Guess Ill wait to see what the adjuster says and go from there. Also if i start fixing it and find more damage im up a certain creek.

Yeah, thats a very big selling point. Hopefully my dealers body shop is on there list.

I'd take the check from their insurance company and fix it myself. You should get $1,800 or more to fix yours and you should be able to piece a fender, hood, grill and the little odds and ends for $600 or so.

Yeah, I honestly think that Itll settle for more then that. Just bc the labor on top of it should push it over. I do have another car so its not like I need this done asap to drive it again. Just finding parts for this will be a pain. especially finding paint that matches.

How did she react to you hitting her?

She was fine, she was 20 i think so newish driver it happens, im not mad. and then her mom got out the car and asked me why I was going so fast. i just laughed and said yeah speeding while slowing down for the stop light lol. and that was the end of that.

Her mom got all mouthy with the cop when he gave the girl her citation for unsafe lane change and causing an accident.

Main thing is every one was ok. Just a pain in the *** now to have to deal with it all.

They should blend your pass side door so the color matches. That would be the proper thing to do.
