Never fixed this before. Can someone with experience tell me what exactly needs to be done? I mean I know I need to get the old one out and a new one in, but do I need to press it out and the new one in or can I pound it out/in with a hammer? Don't want to fork out the money and bother with a press if I don't need to right now (even though its on the buy list). If there's a thread on this already I apologize but I'm on the auto guide app and can't advanced search. Thanks guys.

center punch the old one out. On my 240sx, I put the new stud in then used a deep socket and stacked a few washers on the stud. I put the lug nut on the stud and the tightened it up to seat the stud.

EDIT: Resurrecting an old thread:

Just replaced a wheel lug stud on my rear wheels today. The folks at American Tire (aka Discount Tire) in Sacramento broke it off when they changed out a tire for me back in May (while I was on vacation). I've been running with 5 lugs for the last few months.

Here is a picture of the new lug stud getting seated. Notice I used an open ended lug nut that has a flat surface, so that the stacked washers could draw in the stud:

This picture shows the brake spring and brake adjuster that needs to be temporarily removed to gain enough clearance to remove/replace the stud:
