Did you guys tear up all your carpet to run the wires to the other door jam? I am a n00b to installing so I don't know all the tricks to hiding the wires.
I put everything I could in the door jams and sills. The rest are under the passenger side floor mat because I put my sub under the passenger rear seat. You have to really look for the wires to see them (barely visible in a few spots). I'm kinda lazy. Didnt want to go thru all the trouble of tucking them under the carpet.

Glad you like sub. I sure do dig mine. Worth every penny.

Glad it worked out for you. It really is a surprise when you turn this thing on. I didn't go under the carpet to run my wires, just hid them in the door sills and under the seats. All you can see on mine is about half an inch inbetween the doors from under the passenger seat to the door sills. Have a good one!

Finally took a pic of the Kenwood mounted in the rear passenger side storage tray.

I just got this sub. Is there anything I need from the store to wire this thing up? Power cable? Extra wire? I want to start the install tomorrow but want to be ready.
You do not need anything extra unless you want to crimp an o connector on the end of the battery lead.

I just finished my install yesterday. For those who haven't started yet, you might want/need the following if you don't already have them:
  • crimper/stripper tool
  • crimp (butt) connectors
  • As Sudden Urge said, a crimp-on ring terminal for connecting to the battery
  • drill and drill bit to connect ground wire to frame
  • Add-a-circuit mini fuse holder for connecting the blue turn-on lead into the fuse panel
  • split loom tubing
  • cable ties

Mubley, sounds like you covered all the other little things. Where did you wind up putting the sub and how do you like it?

I installed the sub under the driver's seat. It's mounted on some wooden blocks to raise it above the air vent, and fires downward into the floor for bass reinforcement.

I tried to manage my expectations going into this project so that I wouldn't be disappointed. This is more of an incremental upgrade rather than a major upgrade. It does give me slightly improved bass response. The greatest benefit of this sub (and I think you made this point earlier in the thread) is that the bass can be turned down on the mains, which allows them to play with less distortion.

It obviously doesn't sound or feel like a 12" or even 10" sub, but it was definitely worth the $150 and the few hours of install time.

Just for the hell of it, you should try upfiring it. My choice of placement in the rear tray, imo, amplified its response and acts like a larger enclosure. I have to say this sub doubled the bass response in comparison to the OEM setup.

I tried both firing upward and firing downward. Firing downward gave more bass with less audible distortion.

Ok, thanks for your feedback.

I will order one of these things very soon, if I can sell my other amp & sub that I have.

Mubley, where did you get/rig up that remote turn-on connection for the fuse box? I don't have much sense when it comes to this stuff, but that looks pretty simple.

I got mine at a local auto parts store for about $6. You can see it at partsexpress.com by searching for Part# 071-585 (although their price is higher).

Nice and clean install! Great job, man! Thanks for sharing.

I installed the Kenwood sub this past weekend. I put it under the passenger's seat. I had a friend install it that was more experienced than me, so I didn't have much hands on.
I am happy with this little sub. It doesn't hit like a 10" or 12", but then again it isn't designed to. For what it is, I am happy with it. It has met my expectations and for the price you can't go wrong.

I have the remote in the middle part of my center console(inbetween the two cup holders) fits perfectly, and when I am away, I can situate it in the center console.

I just received this subwoofer for my birthday and couldnt be happier with the improvement it made to my stereo. The price to have Circuit City install it was $75. For $225 with install this is a recommended must have for anyone out there.

Just want to thank all you guys for the info, especially Sudden Urge for starting the thread.

I'm getting mine this week. Sounds like the ticket.

I wouldn't change or mess with anything if I didn't have to, I'd really like it stock, but the mid-line is shameful, to be blunt.

Hopefully the sub will make it bearable :)

All I want is some MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!

I think you will be very happy with it. It will probably take you 10 minutes to set the hand controller to your listening preference. It's a huge improvement to the stock non RF 6 cd system.
