87 Vs. 91

I will be driving to Los Angeles (490 Mile Trip). Wanted to ask if I run 91 round trip. Would i create any problems or would it even help.

2009 Nissan Titan 5.6L
2 Foot LED Bar
K&N Air Filter

No Performance Mods, Just A Few Bolt Ons.

Most will agree that higher octane will give you no gains. However, when I run 91 I get almost 1 mpg improvement.

I get better gas mileage with 85 octane (the lowest available here in Colorado) than with 91. I tested this on a round trip through Wyoming a few years ago. It was enough to convince me that the extra cost of the higher octane wasn't worth it.

Unless you're tuned for it (UPREV) 91 octane won't give you any better performance, MPG seems to depend on the truck

Yup. Waste of money paying for higher octane, unless your vehicle calls for it.... Such as European cars. My bro is a mechanical engineer for nascar and did a full study on higher octane.

for my 05, before I had a tune (UpRev), 91 gave me a boost of ~ 1mpg.
