Gonna be taking it to the dealer tomorrow, couldn't find a vacuum leak at all today. I'm thinking it's the fuel pump/filter. I feel sorry for the dealer as my technique while there is stern and straightforward, usually it intimidates the employees. However they can't assume that everyone walking through their door is clueless about vehicles. It's 15 degrees here today, so much like you I refuse to work on a vehicle in this weather.

I keep getting told this. How hard is it to do this?

get a compression tester and screw it into the cylinders and see what the psi numbers are for all the cylinders on that bank. I actually would actually over pressurize the coolant system and use my borascope to see coolant seeping down the cylinder walls.

So here is where I stand thus far, Titan has been at the dealer since Monday. Fuel pressure good, no vacuum leaks, coils good. Tech says my primary cats and secondary cats are partially clogged. Keep in mind my manifolds got replaced two years ago under warranty.

They say they can't proceed with diagnoses until new exhaust is put on. meaning two new manifolds, mid pipe and cat back. I refuse to believe they can't check individual O2 sensors until after the new parts are put on. I also refuse to pay for an entire exhaust, ESPECIALLY when they can't tell me what caused it to fail in the first place. All the tech said was that he was getting the computer to tell him bank 1 was running rich (drivers side). He said however when he checked the plugs they showed no sign of running rich. He then told me I had the wrong plugs and I told him they were the correct heat range, but they were just copper and not platinum because I didn't want changing plugs to cost me $60. I knew the coppers wouldn't last as long. So he thinks that maybe the plugs weren't burning all the fuel. Plugs have been in about 35K miles. Possibility but I'm not sure I buy it given the rich condition only on the drivers side.....

I'm looking at three situations here: 1) I buy long tubes and midpipe and go completely catless. I also need new tires and have the new ball joints and rear caliper in my garage ready to be put on. 2) I take it back and replace the O2 sensors myself and see if that fixes the issue (hollow out the cats as well). Or, 3) I see what I can get on trade and get a new truck altogether.

Thoughts? Opinions? Advice?

Also, if anyone knows off hand can you give me a ballpark figure for long tubes and mid pipe so i can help figure that into my decision making process. Thanks!

Compression test #5 would be a good idea.
Would be nice to know if the cylinder itself isn't torched.
I don't play a mechanic on the internet. I play one in real life.

So I finally got around to swapping my #5 fuel injector. it was easier then expected, HOWEVER this did not fix my prob. Going to do a compression test next. Also checked oil to make sure I was not getting fuel in there. That is good to go. Dad told me to pull valve cover and see if the lifter is still good.
It might be hard to see in the pic. But the fuel injector that I did remove had dirt around the lower o-ring

Check the coil pack for power.
I know you exchanged it with another working one, but if there is no power, it won't work.

That should do it.
Touch the coil pack for another cylinder looking for power. If you have it there, touch number 5, and if you don't it's a power to the pack problem.

Finally taking her to the shop.....

My trucks been in the shop for a while now and I just got her back couple of days ago. I was driving to an appointment and my truck started fluttering w/ a flashing check engine light. My 2nd cylinder is misfiring so I am going to going to the shop in the morning. Call or text me at 213-247-914nine so we can compare our findings. :)

Ok so after $410 dollars in shop fee's this is what they came up with. It wasn't just the #5 cylinder. My cats are is such bad shape that all the back pressure was causing 3 of my cylinders to misfire. The shop said that because of the back pressure since there was like no exhaust escaping that it was causing those cylinders to flood with fuel. They removed the o2 sensors before the first stage of cats and that is now my exhaust. :crying:. two tiny holes. My cats are still under warranty, however the closes nissan shop is 100 miles away. Plus on top of that the earliest that they can get me in is FEb 9th. Oh how i hate these dealers in North Dakota.
