Melted Wire Harness from broken tailpipe
My tailpipe fell off melting the main rear wire harness. I saw that there were several threads on this, but no real fix for the wires.
My main issue was the passenger side abs. The wires became brittle and broke. After several attempts to fix this issue by splicing wires together… I became annoyed and wanted it fixed correctly.
I ordered the main rear wire harness on the internet and my work started.
First I verified that the new harness matched the old. I traced each plug and counted wires just to be sure.
Here is the main plug. It is located right behind the front passenger wheel along the frame.
I went along the frame rail removing the harness and installing the new one. Needle nose pliers where a big help here.
The First wire off the harness is the fuel pump. I did not get pictures of it… only because I couldn’t get my camera in there.
Next plug would be the passenger rear ABS wire. I did not take a picture of it because I had previously cut it off and spliced the abs wires togeather.
At the very back passenger rear is the plug connector for the passenger tail lights.
To get the harness over to the driver side… you will need to drop your spare tire
Once you make to the driver side… you will hit three more connectors. Drives side taillights, trailer harness, and license plate lights.
The harness will now be routing from the rear drivers side up to the evaporator box (I think that is what it is called)
Once you get to that box… there will be three more plugs. 2 in the evap box and 1 for the rear drivers ABS
Here is a pic of one of the plugs for the evap. The other is directly beside it.
Here is the drivers ABS
After I was done… I reviewed each plug to make sure it was connected properly and to make sure that harness was routed correctly without any rubbing or against any heat source.
Hopefully this will help someone else with this same issue.
