I'll try to make this short. I bought my 06 titan from Kraft Nissan it Tallahassee. I'm from St. Pete which is a little over 3 hours away. I went up there to get it because it was the closest dealership that had the truck that I wanted. I put a deposit on it on a monday and went to pick it up on a saturday. When I got there to get it I looked it over and on the right side bed area it had a small (nickel sized) dent and 3 small scratch/paint chips on it. I asked the salesmen about it and said oh i noticed that this morning when the detailer pulled the truck up to the front of the store but couldn't have it fixed because there paint guy was unable to come on saturday. I told him I had to leave the next day to go home. He said He will make an arrangement to have it taken care of at a dealer that was local to me. So when i took it to them there paint guy said he would suggest painting the whole bed side for $600. When i told my salemen that he said they can't pay that much because I got it for such a good deal that they would lose money. I told them i really didn't want to have the whole side painted anyway. So i found a local guy that does touch up and had the couple chips taken care of myself. All i asked of them was to pay for the paintless dent removal which would only be about $40 and send me a bottle of the touch up paint. He said he talked to the manager and he said he would only do one or the other. I left a message for the manager to call back but haven't heard from them yet. And to top it all off i bought the truck about 5 months ago and this has been ongoing since then.

I feel i was being pretty lenient with my desicion of not wanting the whole bed side painted and they still don't want to man up and make it right.

Yet another dealer that doesn't stand behind their word or their product! I've said it time and time again, love my Titan, I just don't like the people that help support it namely the dealers!! I can't stand my dealer!

Btw, when you shook the hand of your salesman did you by chance feel scales?!?

He actually seemed like a nice guy but hasn't taken care of my problem. Is it worth it to call Nissan and make a complaint?

I fell in to the same problem I live in TX and the dealer got my truck in OK. when I got the truck it had chips on the hood go figuer. The dealer met me half way and split the cost of a bug shield..

everybody makes their experiences with their Nissan dealership... sound like Hell. for me, it was pretty laid back.

their service department is good... and their sales guys are nice. but then again, dealerships that are kind are a rarity.

i remember awhile back when my brother bought his Scion TC... the dealership was cr@p! luckily he traded it in for a Titan... from the same dealership i bought mine.

When I was truck shopping, I visited four dealers in the MA/NH area. Each dealer was unique in their own way.

Dealer #1 didn’t have the truck I wanted. However, they called me everyday for three weeks offering models I didn’t want or couldn’t afford. Each time they called I asked them not to call until they had what I wanted. For some reason they did not listen till I threatened to file a complaint.

Dealer #2 told me they didn't have and could not find the color (smoke) I wanted and that I had to be flexible with color if I wanted a Titan. I told this dealer if I was paying a lot for the truck, then it would have everything I want including color.

Dealer #3 told me they would give me on 07 for the price of the 06 I was looking at from another dealer. After test driving the 07 we started to talk numbers. His offer was no where near the price I got over the phone. When I questioned him, they said it was a "miscommunication". So I left. As I was leaving they told me to come back if I could not find what I wanted. I asked the sales guy to give me a reason for wanting to return to his dealership after he lied to me. He was speechless.

Dealer #4 was the dealer who won my business. They had what I wanted and I got him to throw in a trailer hitch and sliding bed extender. The truck had 625 miles on it too. They said the manager used it for 2 weeks. I also noticed 3 paint chips on the front passenger 1/4 panel. They said they would fix it at their expense. When I went to pick up the truck, the fixed chips looked worse than they did not being fixed. It looked like someone took a nail polish brush to them. I told the sales guy it was unacceptable. He told me that was the best they could do. I told him again it was unacceptable. He went to get his boss who said the same thing to me. So I told him the deal was off and I wanted my deposit back. Once they heard that, they changed their tune. They offered to have a body shop fix it the proper way (wet sand it and paint it). They made an appointment for the following week and put it on the due bill. One week later I took the truck to the dealer and everything was fixed to my satisfaction.

One thing I learned while shopping for the Titan… Know everything about it. Know how they fix paint chips; know how much accessories cost etc. They tried to tell me a hitch was $500 and sliding bed extender was $400. I’d catch these things and call him out on it. It kept him on his toes and got me a good deal…

2006 LE CC 4x4 smoke, added hitch and sliding bed extender for $25,900.

Once you sign on that dotted line and whatever you want is not in a written contract you are basically screwed. That is why I will never sign on the dotted line on a vehicle until all my needs are met. Its a buyers market out there and the streets are full of them and there will always be a better deal to be had, so until my needs are met or the promise is in writing, they can dance on the ceiling.

The thing is they did include in all the paper work that they will fix it. It was some sort of "dealer owes you paint chip work" or something like that.
