I know this topic has been beat to death but I can't help it.In another thread I have heard people post that drone in our trucks is worse in the driver seat than anywhere else and I can tell for sure that it is.After hearing this I tried this with the stock muffler even though not loud if you lean over to the passenger seat you can tell the difference. Now that I have the magnaflow 22" muffler it drones pretty bad at 60 mph especially going up hills but my wife has never once complained and now I know why.Today my wife was driving and I couldn't believe the difference in the passenger seat and I even leaned my seat back and its the same way in the rear seat on the passenger side and for the first time my wife made a comment about how my truck was louder than she remembered it.I just want other people to try this and see what you think.Get your truck where it drones the absolute worst and lean over to the passenger side and see if you can tell the difference,In my truck the drone is cut atleast in half.I love this muffler and its staying on and if I could get the drone out of the drivers side it would be perfect.Try it and Im open to any ideas on how to change this.

I thought you were trying a resonator and shortening the tailpipe first?

Im still debating on the resonator because Im afraid its going to make it as quiet as stock and thats not what I want. Its perfect in volume and after driving it a few hundred miles its also got stronger for sure.Today from 5 mph I got on it and spun the tires
almost to 2nd gear and thats never happened.Wasnt on the best of pavement but still. There has got to be a way to get the drone toned down because Im telling you its fine on the passenger side of the truck.

I've been looking at the AR-30 resonator, maybe a tip like the Zoomer Cannon, or both. I feel the same - love the sound, don't want to reduce the rumble and roar, just cut the drone a little.

Hope to get a tip on in a week or two.

The zoomers cannon tip reduces down to 2 3/8 so there has got to be some restriction there and thats a bad word. The AR-30 needs to slip over your exhaust not in it or you will still be restricting airflow. This drone thing is more delicate than I would of ever thought.I know it might sound crazy but the drone is cut in half on the passenger side of my truck I just have to figure out if there is anyway to make the driver side the same as the passenger side.Im going to try a couple of things and then Im going to try cutting the tail pipe just after the axle and see what happens and then take it from there.Anybody else have any ideas?

another tip I was looking at was the Banks 5" megaphone, but don't know where to buy it.

shailey and others have said the same thing about the passenger side, so I just assumed it was true. I'll be matting my cab for audio down the road, and that might help.

Zoomers doesn't mention that restriction. hmmmm....

Zoomers calls the 2.5 tip the "SILENCER EXHAUST TIP".

Anyone tried it?

Yes Sammy you can make an apapter and this would be the best way to go because the cannon tip is the least restrictive of all our venturi tips. The Silencer is only 3.5" in dia with a 2" core where the Cannon is 4" in Dia. with a 2-3/8" core. The only way I'd go with the Silencer is if you were running 2.5" dual tail pipes, then it would work quite well.

The silencer zoomers make reduces to 2" and the cannon tip is the least restrictive tip according to a post Ron made but it still reduces to 2 3/8.
I'm going to keep looking for the Banks. Anyone know where I can get the Banks 5" Megaphone tip???

Is that the same tip that comes with the Banks catback? If so, many members removed that tip to reduce drone, and it did according to their posts.

I agree with skeet's post about the drone. I took an 18 hour drive and we alternated driving the truck and I noticed right away that the drone in the passenger seat is not as bad as the driver's side.

I can't believe more people haven't noticed this because its very obvious.I can just lean over to the passenger side and its like it just goes away. You can still hear it but it actually sounds good.

Others have posted the same findings. The only thing different on the drivers side would be the bend in the pipe going to the passenger side Y pipe. It seems that bend must have something to do with it, and eliminating that bend will not be practical.

The way the exhaust exits and where the sound is absorbed(muffler location) make all the difference.

I have only a 12 inch straight through can(only a foot long) and have hardly any drone. Thats all I gotsta say bout dat.

The tip does neck down but it does for a reason. There is a Venturi effect created. Here's how the Cannon Tip works:

The Venturi Extraction Tip assists the incoming flow from the muffler. The innovative design utilizes the fast moving air going under the vehicle. The resulting venturi effect creates a low pressure area in the tip, which helps to extract the gasses. The effect increases with speed.

Thanks for the info.
