When I go to turn on my heater it kinda "thinks about it" for a second, then kinda ques up to full speed, same when I turn it down...it takes a few seconds to slow down.

Is this the way it's supposed to be?

Also, my defroster control (the thing in the center of the vent selector control) doesn't come on for at least 5 seconds after I hit it (or at least the light indicating it's on isn't), and doesn't go off for at least 5 seconds after I hit it again.

These things strike me as odd. Are they normal?

it's sort of like your central heat and air in your home. To keep from damaging the system, the components go through a short start-up period before blowing full blast and a short shut-down period before fully turning off.

Works the same way here... kind of nice if you ask me .. Think about it .. It will give you a chance in the summer to turn it down before the rush of hot air hits ya.

Same here. When you push the defrost button, just push it once and be patient, it will come on in a second or so. Been through one whole summer and the a/c works great!

Yes there is a small hesitation. It's funny coming out of a F150 there were several little quirks I noticed with the truck. I also felt the heater fan was a little noisy. I've now got 13000 miles on it so its growing on me.

The defrost control in the center is for the side mirrors i think and the defrost that is on the first turn knob is for the inside of the car. am i right?

I have an 04 and mine comes on instantly. I'm not sure I'm understanding. Nothing waits 5 seconds or so.

I've never noticed any hesitation in my 04 either. Maybe an 05 or later thing?

I wish I had the auto climate controll. I had that in my last vehicle and miss it. I am in Minnesota and during the months Jan/Feb we had alot of 5 to 15 below days. The heater in the Titan does not quite cut it. The A/C works great.

I have noticed a slight delay of the light illuminating when pushing both the Defrost, for the side mirrors and the back window , and the A/C recirc. buttons. My first thoughts were that they didn't work right , but they do work and have learned to not expect the light to come on instantaniously.

Is an 05 thing, 04s had a different fan control. In my 05, the delay is tied to the rheostat. When I have the lights on (I keep the dash pretty dim) and I do anything with the HVAC, I have to wait from 3-8 seconds for anything to actually happen. When I turn the dash lights to full bright, the pause is minimal. When I shut the lights off, there is no pause. Nissan Factory Tech said that the HVAC controls shared a ground with the lights and that was the cause.
