So I've been searching more into the rear differential on the NonXD. I had mistakenly believed the NonXD uses the same AAM250 as the XD, but now I'm quite sure that's not the case.

What I've found so far from my 2017 Titan S 2WD

Definetly an AAM axle. Cover uses 12 bolts and is stamped R9652 (this is the same cover used on GM 2014+ 1/2 ton 9.5 and 9.76" AAM rear diffs.

The Passenger side casting shows 9327A N3 9.5

On GM forums, I found that the 9.5 refers to the Ring gear size https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/to...m/forums/topic/166302-which-axle-975-or-95/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-1580962

Axle assembly physically looks extremely similar to the 9.5" 12 bolt used in the 2014+ GM 1/2 tons

Thanks for this info. I want to put an Auburn limited slip in mine, but no local mechanics can tell me what the rear diff is with any certainty so I can order the correct one.

Edit, doesn't look like Auburn makes one for this diff...searching....

Yeah, finding out exactly what this diff is is the first step. Just because the outside is physically the same as the GM, doesn't mean the internals are.

And even the GM variant doesn't have a lot on the market yet. But it does have more options for gear ratios.

Next steps would be to verify spline counts for the axles and pinion, and see if we can find identifying marks on the carrier.

Yours is 2WD, I have the elocking rear diff with the Pro4X and I didn't see anything stamped on my rear cover. I did research before purchase and found out they were AAM rear ends. Mine has something stenciled on the driver side rear of the axle between shock and anti-sway mount. I can't make out the letters with my eyes. Can you guys see what this says? THNX

Slyfur1 look on the top of the fin on the passanger side front, that's where the 9.5 is cast in.

I hadn't seen the stamping you posted, but now I'll look on mine, good catch

What I can see looks like

##### EZ128 A 2.93 L
TNTX22571722782

2.93 is the gear ratio on all the NonXDs, I'm assuming the L means locking

I think some of the rest may be part numbers, will have to look those up when I get some time

OK, looking further, first line looks like

43001 EZ12B A 2.93 L

43001 EZ12B is the generic part number for Nissan rear axle assembly
Cool, thanks I couldn't make that 43001 out? It looks bunched together and just unreadable?

I needed to have the front bench seat so I picked up an SV 4x4 instead of a Pro4X...was disappointed no locking rear diff options were available from the factory or aftermarket - but figured that by the time I'm ready to get this thing seriously off-road in a few years there would hopefully be some options. Wondering if rear diff in 2wd & 4wd (Non-Xd and non Pro4X are the same. Following this thread...

Just to add to this, I reached out to AAM and asked if the gear kits and carrier for the GM would work or is there some difference, the response I received was

"Even though the axle uses a 9.5” gear, they are different and you cannot use the GM 9.5” in the Nissan."
