Hello,
Looking for clue as to what I can expect from this mess.
I’ve had the truck for one year (almost exactly, 2/5/2022). Bought it used with 16k. It ran perfect for the entire year that I’ve had it, then this month it starts acting up.
Mine is a 2021 Titan XD Pro4x.
A few weeks ago I remote started it after work, noticed it was idling much higher than the normal cold startup rpm.

Drove to pick up my kid, noticed it was acting “jumpy” when shifting gears, like it was lurching into them the higher idle was my guess. Got to my destination, put it in park, then the rpms went to 1800. Engine was well warmed up by then. (30 min drive.)
I shut it off, loaded the little one, started it up and drove home with it still acting funny.
Got home and shut it off, checked for any popped vacuum lines but found none.

The next day it started up just fine and drove just fine. Didn’t have a problem for another couple of weeks.

Then last week on Tuesday it started just fine, drove to work no problem. Then at break time I started it and it was idling high again (1500).
Usually my start up rpm when cold is about 1100 then it drops quickly enough to 800 (normal) after it warms a bit. Then driving home that day it did the same thing with the high idle from starting it, and a check engine light appeared along my drive. My code reader gave me a code that basically said what I already knew (engine idle speed higher than normal). I reset it, it seemed fine.
Next day (Wednesday) I drive to work no issues. Then as I’m sitting in the parking lot letting it idle for the keeping the heater going (Colorado winter), as I’ve done all the time, my dash then lights up like a Christmas tree, message says “system fault, see owners manual”.
I pop in my OBDII scanner, it reads P2101, basically the throttle body position out of alignment. After researching what it is, I have Nissan Roadside tow it to the dealer since they cover it under the warranty.
They got it in quickly enough, fixed the recall for the parking brake issue and reprogrammed the ECU, which “fixed” the problem. I also had them flush my brake fluid out and change it since it was dirty and dark. They recommended I do the transfer case and front and rear diff fluids too for a 30k mile service but I can’t afford to drop $500 on it at the moment on a whim.
They had it for a day and a half, I ended up borrowing a car from a relative.

Got the truck back, it seemed fine for the most part, I could tell that it almost seemed to be relearning my driving habits and the throttle was a bit jumpier than normal.
Then yesterday I started getting that high idle again after I left work. Got home, it was fine.

This morning though, all hell broke loose. Started it up, it idled high right away (1500). I started to back out of the garage, then it displayed a message “service AT”. Check engine light came on. Then I started driving down my street in 4H since it was snowing and slick out. Another message came up with the “system fault, see owners manual”.
Then it wouldn’t shift out of 1st gear and would shake a lot when I went above 20mph.
I immediately turned around, parked it back in the garage and called another tow truck.

90 minutes later, I go to move it for the tow truck to be able to load it easier, it starts up just fine. Runs fine, no lights, no messages. As if it didn’t happen. I never reset anything either or plugged in my scanner this time.

I still had him tow it to the dealer.
Waiting to hear from them what it could be.

They’re all out of loaners though. So that’s cool. Guess I’m probably borrowing a car again until they sort it out.

I’ll post my updates as this unfolds.

Just got it back tonight. They couldn’t replicate the issue for over a day of trying, even after I sent them videos of it acting up. It took their head tech to find the throttle being messed up, which makes sense of how it was acting.
They replaced the throttle body under warranty and did a relearn. It seems to be fine.
Hopefully this fixes it.
Time will tell.
Trade it??!? Nah, it’s going to take more than this to scare me off. I love this truck. The only other thing I would want over it at this point is a 6.7 power stroke but that’s way too much truck for my needs.
