I have the 2021 Titan XD PRO4 i use premium gas & i only get 13.8 MPG HWY & 10.5 City the truck runs great but gas mileage is no good and I drive like slow i don’t understand why I have bad gas mileage ?
You’re in an XD for one. But Busemans is right, you should still be higher than that.

My first 2 tanks over the last couple of weeks I used 87 oct and I got 13.7 mpg and 14.9 mpg and these are a mix between the city/hwy. I'm trying hard not to get on it unless responding to a fire dept call. I filled up on the 1st with 89 oct. My next tank will be 91 oct. I'm all about the mpg and not the horsepower.

It's been said a thousand times over the years. "You do not buy a Titan for the gas mileage."

While I agree, I'm also not going to get out on the road and hammer down every chance I get. I bought it for the Nissan reliability, styling and functionality. And if I can squeeze out the best MPG I can while I'm at it, it's a win!

Hi sorry for the delay to you question. I running premium gas, I purchased this truck last year’ it has always had bad gas mileage I just got back from Panama City, Florida & on the freeway i was getting 13.8 & Driving around town i was getting 10.5 just wondering if something is wrong or is that what i’am this is supposed to be getting?

2017 sv

driving 75-80, here in texas, i would get between 13 and 16mpg on the highway.

and 13ish in town. i have 34 inch tires in load range E though, so they are heavy and you can tell it effects the gas mileage. i lost like 3 mpg immediately when these tires went on. don't put load range E tires on unless you are hauling heavier loads and actually need it because you will feel it every time you drive afterwards

I run regular, mid and premium.
I don't notice a difference at all in power or economy. The 9AT Titan is so sluggish off the line from ECU programming the only way to notice a power difference would be at higher speeds, where it wouldn't be so obvious anyway.
On road trips I get about 20-23 regardless of gas type. I'm pretty thankful that the highway MPGs are so good, because in town is just as bad as my last Titan.

My weekly commute is short, I can go more than 2 weeks on a tank, so sometimes I feel generous and put premium in. If I was filling it up more frequently I'd probably lean more towards regular grade gas.

I just bought a 2021 Titan earlier this month. Manual says premium gas recommended for best performance. Has anyone seen a diff when running 89 or 87? Gas mileage any better or worse, spark knock or poorer performance.
I have the 2021 Titan with a 3” lift 18” tires 10.5 & not to much better on the HWY

i would go back to stock if i only for 10.5 and was not towing. i couldn't have a vehicle that got 10.5 mpg, it would drive me crazy thinking about all the money i was losing driving it around

Welcome to my world if I daily drive the Titan. Highway, different story 16 - 17mpg once all that mass is in motion.

If the manufacturer doesn't REQUIRE (using this specific word) specific octane, I'll always use whatever lowest is allowed. The reason they bumped to 91 was marketing and only marketing. 390hp doesn't sound good. 400hp does. They didn't want to modify the engine so they sort of cheated with a quick premium gas HP boost hack. That's all there's to it. It's the same engine that was designed to run 87. They just updated the software to add the extra 91 mode.

I understand though that some people have irrational anxieties and fears that tells them putting 87 is wrong. It's about what gives your mind peace. If it's knowing you're feeding your truck the best gas or you saving basically enough to get a free burger meal every fill up, everyone has their own preferences. There's no right or wrong here.

I've run 85 octane in mine a few times with no ill effects. Not because I wanted to, but that happened to be the cheapest gas at the station where I stopped.

The whole 91 octane is a gimmicky joke. Our trucks will perform the same and do all of the hauling and towing duties with 85/87 octane. 91 isn't required for anything nor will it make the truck do anything better. Just pure marketing fluff.

Hi sorry for the late reply been having family issues kinda keep me busy. Going back to your Question i using supreme gas, in my Titan book say to use 93 octane to have better performance overall but i never used anything else. Thanks for your opinion might try it out just to see if the gas mileage changes.
