  1. Fifth Wheel Towing

    Titan Towing & Hauling
You don't really know towing vs cargo, do you? In a 5th wheel, hitch weight goes to your cargo. As the box is pretty much used up with the mount, additional cargo goes into the rv. So, that leaves passengers. Unless you get a really big rv, or are really hefty, there will be enough capacity for...
  2. 150,000 mile maintenance

    Titan General Discussion
What style of clamps did you go with?
  3. What did you do to your Titan Today?

    Titan General Discussion
Well, most of its life was on a farm in MN. Lots of corrosive junk on the roads in the winter. I am in ND and our roads are almost as bad, as my hhr shows underneath. So, it isn't so much a neglect things, as it is that vehicles just don't have stellar lifespans.
  4. What did you do to your Titan Today?

    Titan General Discussion
Well, that part isn't bad, but I'll probably need more than just that. I'll need the tailpipe part, probably the cats, and new o2 sensors. With as bad as everything is rusted, I'll likely not get anything off easily.
  5. Where to get replacement skid plat bolts?

    Titan Parts & Accessories
Snapped 1 of mine, too. Lots of rust in the north. Can't imagine a bolt would be hard to find.
  6. What did you do to your Titan Today?

    Titan General Discussion
Replaced front/rear diff fluids. swapped tranny fluid. Didn't have 10mm hex socket, so tras case is waiting. Replaced struts and tie rods. Cleaned and lubed dr window motor and regulator. Should get new exhaust, but a full system might just be more expensive than it is worth!
  7. Strut alignment

    Titan Suspension
I just did my struts and I inserted the top of the strut first, and got the 3 nuts on, but I didn't tighten them down. Then I was just able to give the bottom of the strut a bit of nudging and they slipped into the bottom bracket, for the most part. On the drivers side, I had to push a bit more...
  8. Window stuck down!!!!! Help!!!

    Titan Interior Discussion
After dinking with motors years, the commutator(comm) and brushes are weak links. The comms on these motors are a series of stacked rings, instead of solid. At least on mine, that is how the comm was built. Makes it harder to clean. The brushes also seem kinda short for long term continual use...
  9. Nissan will bail on trucks I fear :( - Thoughts?

    Titan General Discussion
Nope, boring junk unless you want to pay an arm and leg. I've owned 2 fords and both were huge mistakes. I've driven other fords and they were dogs to drive. Nothing to endear them in any way. And for the price of a raptor, ohh ahh, a f150 with buffed body work. A $52,000 toy with a crap engine...
  10. Nissan will bail on trucks I fear :( - Thoughts?

    Titan General Discussion
ALL manufacturers have their issues, every single 1 of them. I remember the v10 that used to be in the ram and the oil sieve it was. Woulda thought a harley had parked in the spot with the way it leaked. Ford makes boring crap. Chevy made stuff that rusted out in a handful of years. My 04 has...
  11. tranny fluid change question

    Titan Engine, Transmission & Drivetrain
Oh, I am going to drop the pan, hence my drain, drop, fill, repeat. The pan is the drop part! :D Anyways, from what I can tell, the fluid is just used up. nothing smells burnt and the tranny seems to be working fine. So, I am going to just drain and drop the pan, clean if needed, refill, and...
  12. tranny fluid change question

    Titan Engine, Transmission & Drivetrain
Well, I have zero idea of this trucks previous maintenance. I got it a couple years ago just for hauling things and towing and such. So, I have no idea the last time the tranny had any sort of drain done. So, I was just going to do the drain, drop, fill, & repeat method. Hard to say if there is...
  13. tranny fluid change question

    Titan Engine, Transmission & Drivetrain
It was on here, but there are so many threads, I can't find it right now. I don't have burnt fluid, just really used fluid.
  14. tranny fluid change question

    Titan Engine, Transmission & Drivetrain
So, supposedly the fluid should not be changed if burnt smelling? So then, what should a person do? Obviously the fluid can't be left in as it will only get worse. Is this really a thing?
  15. transfer case o-rings

    Titan Parts & Accessories
Huh, strange, a different post seemed to suggest o-rings. Ok, well I'll just give things a visual and go from there. Teflon tape I have. Thanks!
  16. transfer case o-rings

    Titan Parts & Accessories
So, I am going to do a fluid swap on the diffs, tranny, engine, and transfer case. I need to know what o-rings are being referred to that should be replaced. I have an 04 CC. Thanks
  17. Problems with rr brake/stop on tt

    Titan Towing & Hauling
So, checked the fuses under the dash and yep, 1 was toast. Lights good. Glad I stumbled across that here. Never would have known about it otherwise.
  18. Problems with rr brake/stop on tt

    Titan Towing & Hauling
I did check the bulb yesterday. One of the first things I looked at. Trailer wiring is simple enough to check, that's why I am wondering about the things that I'd need to check with the truck. Between missing relays, bcm module replacements, ect; I figure I should know the common places to...
  19. Problems with rr brake/stop on tt

    Titan Towing & Hauling
So, I have a 2004 that has the basic tow. As in button and 7pin. When I got my tt(travel trailer), last year, I found out I was missing a relay. What automaker doesn't put in a relay, honestly. So, for last summer I used my Xterra. This year, got myself a reese wdh, installed 1 relay. Well my...
  20. Installation of brake controller issues

    Titan Towing & Hauling
Ok, well that is what the rv dealer said. The trailer connection was not receiving a signal. So, I too the connection apart under the bumper and the insides were great looking. Nice, clean, and tight. So, I don't think it is wiring. I am going to guess they did not have things wired right for...
