Hey guys. First post here. Im at a loss. My 05 crew after a bit of driving fine will suddenly start sudden drops in rpm and studder. At first usually when i accelerate between 40 and 60. It gets so bad it will die or damn near. After fighting with it a few it will start throttling back up agai for a bit. I can turn it off and restart and it will run fine for a few minutes. No engine lights. 199k miles.

Ive swapped the fuel pump relay and fog light relay. I also ordered and installed new fuel pump relays. I also swapped out the idpm itself from one out of a 06 armada (could be faulty) Thought i fixed it but nope. Same issues.

When it acts up i can "pedal it" and keep it going sometimes. If i step on it wide open the rpm drop dead. Like no fuel. I left up and it will pick up a bit. After a few its back to normal rpm for a few and repeats.

Fuel pump? Is there a self test i can do?
Maf?
Cats? (Never had a ses light yet)

I need help asap.

hey man i have an 07 titan and if I were you I would check the mass air flow sensor and the air filter. just a few days ago i was cleaning my air filter and put it back in while it still had cleaner wet on it. my truck drove fine for about 2 minutes, then the same problems. it began to sputter, and rpm's dropped sounded like it was going to stall. when i put the pedal to the floor rpm's dropped even more. when i pulled over and opened it up full throttle my truck wouldn't run past 2000 rpm's, as well as having back fire. when i popped my hood and removed my air filter, my mass air flow sensor was soaked, i took my air filter out and cranked my truck up again. With out the air filter in it began to run fine again. revved up fine, as well as it drove fine too, haven't had any problems since. I let my air filter dry and put it back in. I hope this helps you in any way possible to fix your truck man. if that isn't the problem i hope you figure it out.

Im having similar issues and mine appears to be fuel pump and or filter issues, ill find out tomorrow. Mine isn't the speed it's the rpms, between 2000 and 2500, not in park, only under load. It starts missing, bucking etc. I stop and restart and it runs fine for a bit then hello, it's back. It is worse the lower the fuel level is. I believe that I have something in my tank that is getting sucked against the gas pick up and limiting the fuel flow but since I have to drop the tank to check or do anything I'm going to change out the whole pump and filter assembly and clean the tank. I do have over 400,000 miles on it. Its an 04 SE CC 4x4 and the fuel pump and filter are original. Good luck.

Please let me know how your titan turns out. My current issue on top of the above symptoms is my obd2 hookup. 2 scanners so far I've tried and both say unable to find ecu. I unhooked the battery and let the system drain 24 hours "just cause" and the damn thing ran fine for as hard as i could run it for several miles. Its still parked as im not convinced its fixed yet.
Did the ipdm self test and all went flawlessly. So idk.

LED tail lamp bulbs have been known to cause strange things with the Titan. Got LED?

Went to pass some a a car and hammered down and it acted like it lost fuel presure or had a clogged filter I let off and just drove easy it was fine but any time I hammer down on her it acted like a bad filter or weAK pump. I been reading all day and seen things like the control module or a sensor in the tranny or a bad pump the thing runs great un less I give it the beans any pointers where to start I'm Goin to be running a presure test in the morning for the fuel pump but didn't know if I should start with something else if it's the pump any recommendations on brand iv heard a lot of bad things about cheap pumps I want to do it once not three times

So...my 2004 Titan, 170,000mi, is now experiencing similar issues. After driving @ 80mi, regardless of fuel level, there is reduction in power and it will start bucking terribly when throttle is required. I experience this mainly when towing @ 2000lbs. Pulled the codes and none found re issue. Pull over and shut it down for bit and it will be better, but return shortly. However after sitting say overnight to fully cool, there is no issue with power/throttle following day. Could it be a Cat issue? I hear no premature "whining" as to fuel pump failure, but I am going to get the PSI checked out tomorrow. What ever did you find out as to your issue? THX! Al

The LED issue has to do with electrical interference causing the truck to have issues. Try swapping out pairs of bulbs and see what happens.

Doubt he answers you. He hasn't been on the forum since 2018.

Do you have any codes thrown? Check engine light lit?

What was the issue with your 2004 Titan? Mine just started doing the same thing.
