Hey there guys, what would be some suggestions to get my truck "tow ready"

I will be towing the wife's honda accord from California to Texas! I just purchased some new hew Hawk brake Pads, the truck has new 18 inch wheels and tires, new 5100's up front. Truck has been leveled last year. I am in the process of looking for a used OEM tow hitch as we speak. Forgot to mention i just replaced the stock trans pan with an aftermarket one, added a trans cooler, already have a stillen aluminum radiator. I know i need new rear shocks soon as well. Any suggestions?

Should be fine with what you've got as long as you get a good hitch. Shouldn't be more than 6000 pounds car and trailer (full car trailer not a dolly). With new rear shocks you won't sag too much.

If you haven't done the big brake kit I would have suggested that, but you just bought Hawk pads which aren't cheap.

Towed my wife's Mazda 6 when we still had it fully loaded up with stuff (couldn't even get in the diver seat) no problem. It was on a tow dolly.

I got a hitch from U-Haul for like $135 I think. Super easy install.
Don't forget the relays for under the hood so the trailer lights work. $30ish at U-Haul.

Your truck will make easy work of that. My truck pulled this 200 miles. It was a very effortless tow. Kept speed around 65 mph on the hwy. I towed in 4th gear. Total weight was a little over 6500 lbs. Your load should be at least a 1000 lbs lighter. My truck has the same 2.94 axle ratio as yours. My truck is stock. Trans temp never budged.

I would install some fresh Rear Axle lube if you haven't already.

I'd just get a Reese hitch and call it a day. I've been putting Reese hitches on my vehicles that needed them for around 20 years (damn, I'm getting old) and have never had a problem with them.

just lock out 5th gear or the tranny will get warm. 4th gear on the hwy and sometimes I'll click 3rd if I'm between 50-60 mph lugging it on slight inclines.
