Hey im looking for suggestions and couple answers. My truck has been over heating at times, not all the time but when it does it goes all the way to the line underneath the H. So far i have change the thermostat twice with a motorad 170 from auto zone. Cured me for about a week then out of the blue week later it heats up again. i bleed my system twice by leaving my overflow open to vent air and squeezed the upper hose to push air out. I went and replaced the radiator cap still no fix. I have since noticed ive been running about 210 which i know is too hot but it hasnt gotten to the H line on the gage.. I have read there is supposed to be constant movment from the radiator to the over flow which i am not seeing any coolant flowing to the overflow. there is plenty of coolant in the tank and im not leaking. what should i look into next before dumping on new radiator and water ?pump

I would have easily thought the pump could be worn. They don't always leak, some have impeller come loose and not turn. Could have crud built up from settling if pump was bad a long time. Interesting, though frustrating I'm sure.

very! At first they said it was radiator and it would cost 650 parts and labor so i said okay go ahead. The next day they said the tech over pressured the new rad so they had to replace. I called a few days later they said it’s still doing the same thing. They informed me they are going to go through the entire system check for blockage and what not and i wouldn’t be charged for all of that. Days later they said they still don’t know what it is so they are now going to check pressure on all cylinders. That was Thursday i haven’t heard from them since. They’ve had my truck for two weeks

???? Bad pump is one of the easier things to diagnose...you don't need special tools or special training.....tell your tech to take off the cap and start the engine. Once you hit temp the level of the coolant should drop a centimeter or so and you can see it moving. Only a leaking hose is a problem and you'd know if you had that. Not once since water cooling replaced air cooling has a non leaking hose caused overheating. Stop being nice to these guys and have the put up or shut up conversation. You're not driving a moon rover.

i am being to nice. It will be three weeks wed. With no official word. I know what they are doing. Being that they said it was radiator at first and i told them go ahead and fix it. When they found out it wasn’t that after they had already replaced it now they know i don’t have to pay for that because they misdiagnosed it.
