In the mornings if it is cold, say in the high 30's to low 40's my truck will not crank. Turns over like normal but refuses to start. Once the sun comes out and it the temp has warmed up , the truck cranks right up 1st time. I had the same problem last year and had the alternator, battery, IPDM and the ECM replaced. All of them seemed to solve the problem temporarily, until finally the ECM seemed to fix it once and for all.

Buddy of mine thinks it is some kind of voltage issue so last night I hooked up a charger & set it to slow charge. This morning it started up just fine.

Any suggestions ? I guess it could be the ECM again but I'm just thinking there has to be some kind of other issue here.

Weak battery? Corroded battery terminals? If you haven't already at least checked that and cleaned the terminals, start there....

I wish it was that simple. All that was replaced within the last year and the terminals are clean. The battery was actually replaced twice last year. It was showing good on the test but they replaced it free anyway because of the issues sure pointed in that direction

When it's cold, does it pop or crack or seem like it wants to start, or is it just like turning it over with no signs of life? If it gives a little semblance of life, perhaps a bad coil-pack? Just brainstorming...... Let us know what you find.

No signs of life, when it occurs. I guess it could be another ECM going bad but it just seems like that would be odd to have the same thing happen again. Is there any kind of signal from the ECM that sends some code to not crank, if it perceives some sort of low voltage reading ?

I'm not sure about the ECM and low voltage. I do have a couple other ideas..... Do you have two keys and does it do it with both keys? Might be a bad chip in one. Also, shake the shifter while turning it over as it might be giving the engine a no-start in gear signal. Although usually this prevents it from even turning over. Just ideas....
