Hey all, hope this is the right place to post this, if not I apologize.

I had my original starter replaced back in Oct 2014 at the local Nissan dealership, and recently the truck has not been starting on first turn over, intermittently. Only 140k miles on it; and of course the dealership only offers 12 month 12k mile warranty on the part. My original starter lasted 7 years, so for this one to seemingly stop working only after 3 baffles me. I know they don't make things to last like they used to, but damn. I brought the truck to my local trusted mechanic and had the spark plugs replaced, thinking that could be the main issue, since I hadn't had them replaced in the past 10 years of having the truck and they said they needed replacing.

Monday I brought the truck back to the local mechanic due to the Check Engine light coming on for another unrelated issue over the weekend, and they experienced the starter issue as well (they couldn't originally when I got the spark plugs replaced)..said my battery checked out fine. This morning the truck did its thing again, with the starter making a ping noise and not starting the engine. Second try it fired right up. I'm wondering if the starter could be fine but the solenoid is not? I dread dropping another $700 on another starter if I don't need to, especially after dropping $400 on spark plugs. I've brought my truck in for routine/consistent maintenance throughout the decade, and have always kept it in good shape. I know they say when one thing starts to go, other stuff starts to follow suit when vehicles (and people? lol) get up there in age, but I'd like to think I could keep my Titan running strong for another 10 years if I wanted to.

Any help or advice/suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks all, and have a great weekend!

It could be a worn ignition connection or loose wire in the steering column.

Have you had the charging system checked for free to rule out the starter?
