07 Titan Tire Pres. Sensor Recall

1768 Views 21 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  baseballfanz
My Tire Pressure sensor tripped last week and after checking and double checking the pressure (44PSI all the way around) and driving it for about 5 days back and forth to work, the idiot light was still on. So I gave up and took it into the dealer.

Lo and behold, they said a recall is out on the '07 TPS sensors. So they changed mine out. Attached is the invoice from the dealer, so if one of you Nissan professional wrench monkeys can find the details of the recall info, you can post it on this thread for the archives.

Got my truck back a few hours ago and the light it off and all four tires show evidence of being dismounted and re-mounted. So, I think they actually did the work.

Here is a scan of the invoice:

.. can't post the URL 'cause I am still a NOOB. The missing part of the URL is the h t t p part stroke stroke

The recall should include the 04-06's also. My TPMS light comes on every time i drive over 40mi. I run 36-40psi and still get the light.
Yes NTB07-046

Whew! Mine match the "OK" picture.
You running 44 psi in your tires? I'm only running 36 psi in my 265-70-18's

I always thought you were supposed to air them up to what the sidewall rating states. Mine state Max load xxxxlbs @ 44psi. So I run 44 psi.

I don't recall what the door pillar says, guess I need to look.
Don't mean to hijack the thread but....

In the TSB , it says to hand-tighten the wheel nuts and there is a graphic that says "No Air Tools". Why? I've had the tires rotated twice now on my '07 and both times they used an air impact wrench.
I have an '06 and the light has been on for quite some time. I have checked the pressure in all of my tires and they are around 33 - 35 psi. I took it to the dealer and was told that the warranty on this item is only 12-12,000. Since I now have 30K on the truck, I'm pretty much SOL. However this recall tells me that the TPMS is pretty much a POS. I have read here and on CT that a lot of people are having the same problems. A recall should be issued on all of them.

Impact wrenches can deform the wheels. They can also pull the rotors out of alignment, causing run-out and brake judder.

ideally they want all aluminum wheels to be done with tq wrench. Now all shops have impact wrenches and have been using them for installing wheels since their invention. The impact wrench can damage your wheels if they over tq them. They could also cause wheel balance issues or warp rotors if they are not careful... If you brought that tsb in with you and held it up to the mechanic while they changed your tires and said, "hey NISSAN says do this"... I bet you get a nasty look...
they trying to save money and go with plastic ? The 04's-06's had metal. See what they get for going cheap

At the least! But thanks for the clarification.
It seems like a lot of people have problems with this system. Is it really that important to you guys? I check my tire pressure often just out of habit. Is there a way to disable the system if I start to have these issues as well?

tape would work, just put it over the light. :upsidedow

The sensors are just there as a bandaid for the whole roll over issue that SUV''s and large PUPS have. You will slowly start seeing them added to every car out there. They really don't do anything other than tell you you tire pressure is below 25psi (i think that is the number but it may be 20)
CNEARY812....I love the tape idea, I was thinking about just taking a hatchet to the gauge cluster until the light doesn't work anymore. Then I could run any tire and wheel package I want with zero issues.

Ya know if more people thunk like this, we wouldn't need no stinkin' warranties!

Oh, and don't forget the pics! :D

lol

hatchet might be a bit extreme, yes tape is the way to go. If you do however like the hatchet method more power to you but may I suggest just removing the gage cluster instead :teethmast
well i have a regular titan crew cab and my tires went down to 35psi and theyre supposed to be at 44psi. they havent came on at all,.... is that considered for a recall???
