Haven't driven one, but if I were you, I'd wait till next year. Let Nissan work out some of the bugs on the redesign.
It's not a different design. It's the same as my 2007. The V-8 is unecessary as the V-6 has more than enough balls as it is.

The V-8 Pathfinder is really nothing more than an answer to the Hemi Grand Cherokee and the like. The jump in power can probably be likened to when Ford put the 302 into the Ford Explorer in '96, except that the 160 HP V-6 was really underpowered and the Explorer needed a V-8 while this version of the Pathfinder already has enough power is is getting more. Or really, it's more like the 4.7L V-8 Grand Cherokee was plenty powerful but still wasn't powerful enough for some, so Chrysler brought out the Hemi-powered Grand Cherokee. Yeah, that's more like it.

Either way, if you'd rather have a V-8 powered mid-sized SUV, it's now available from Nissan.

My wife has a brand new 08 Path with the V6. The V6 has plenty of punch, I couldnt imgaine it with a V8. It is a very nice ride and very fancy (hers has everything) but I would MUCH rather have the Titan.

test drove an se v8 4x4 today, wow soo much power!!!!pretty loaded too for $27900. thinking about trading the titan/selling abd buying the pathfinder.
anyone else tets drive the path?
You won't find a V8 Pathy for anywhere near 28g. In fact, the cheapest V6 version I've ever seen was more than that. Just where are you shopping?!!

I drove the 08 V8 Pathfinder and really enjoyed it! After feeling the power in that suv was nice, did not feel as restricted in low speeds like the titans. After doing some research that suv weighs around 5100 lb/s which is a little hefty for a mid size suv but my biggest concern was the brakes. After owning a 2004 titan and having gone through the brake reacalls I noticed that the pathfinder has the same size rotors and calipers as my truck and I could feel the brakes were hard and un certain so I think they have placed simular titan brakes on the pathfinder. My truck is a CC 4x4 with the tow package, bed cover, running boards and it weights 5500 lb/s with out passengers (tested on a local scale) so I for see the pathfinder having brake issues down the road.

I have owned 2 first year production vehicles and this titan will be my last as they have many bugs to flush out and it is frustrating going through the recalls. My truck has had 6 brake jobs, rear diff replaced, front 4x4 systems replaced and my drivers seat cushions replaced twice (foam sucks) and the center console lid fabric is torn. So when I look at the new models now they have changed all of the issues I had with my truck including upgrading the fabric on the center console lid.

The 2009 models have a nice ring to them...

Good luck.

My Titan is still my favorite to drive but my Pathfinder has an excellent ride too and the brakes are way better than on the Titan. My Pathfinder is nine months old and never has been back to the dealer, nor have I ever found a single reason to be displeased. Not a single mechanical or cosmetic flaw. It is 100% perfect. As I've said before Nissan hit a home run with it, they are everywhere I drive here in NJ.

Great ride for sure, I would consider owning one but only after they have been on the market for a while just to flush out any bugs etc with the nnew power train..

There's NO new technology or design to work the bugs out with here.

The V8 us the current V8 engine that's been shoehorned into the existing Pathy's engine compartment. Granted, the Pathy has been given a facelift, but all changes are only cosmetic.

All said, that think ought to fly!
